I am also taking calculus, child development, and biology at a local community college.

3 years Junior Varsity Cross Country and Track

4 years Autism Awareness Club:
-currently over 400 hours volunteering with autistic children, much more to come as it is what i want to pursue with my life. I hope to acquire a job for pay working with autistic children in the next few months.
-raised over $20,000 so far for Walk for Autism
-co-founder/president of club

I've been waitressing for the past 3 months and plan to continue it....a big step for me.

I plan to write my essay about my experience with the autistic children and how I draw inspiration from them and the lady who started a center for them near where I live.

I want to study psychology, child development, and possibly even Autism (UCLA has a program for Autism) in college.

I have no idea if I’m good at chancing…but here goes =x

I don’t think your hardship will get you into Stanford, unfortunately

You seem to have a decent shot at UCLA possibly
You might need some other EC’s besides your club, even though it’s a great activity, especially since you founded it

The gpa is also a tad low, but UCLA will probably overlook taht depending on your EC, essay, and consideration for your condition

UCSD doesn’t give much consideration to conditions. They gave out like 500 points out of the possibl 7700 needed to get in…soo…for SD you may need better GPA and such

i actually think you’ve got a great chance at all of your schools. you’re obviously smart & you’ve gotten really involved with things related to your syndrome. i like the essay topic except i might consider taking out the part about the lady who started a center near u [does that actually say something about u?] & i might instead talk about your waitrissing [u said it yourself…it’s a big step for u. maybe expand on that.] just a thought. gl :)

You guys are way too optimistic. In at UCLA? In at Stanford?

You have next to no chance at Stanford depending on your rank, but I’d guess with a 3.3 it’s not very good. UCLA is a huge reach as well with your UC GPA being over .7 points below the average. Your SAT is good, but the UCs are not fans of low GPA/high test score applicants. You probably won’t get in, so I would suggest counting on the mid tier UCs and CSUs.

edit: Didn’t read the URM part… that gives you a much better chance at Stanford, but doesn’t help you for the UCs which don’t practice AA.

I think you should discuss your disability- definitely make that a focus point. I know someone with Aspergers with a lot to offer- he’s very creative.
You’re clearly very bright- and your SAT scores indicate your abilities aren’t limited to one area. A 2150 is very good. I’m not saying you’re in at Stanford-but applying couldn’t hurt- Having Aspergers should be something you really play up. Colleges love diversity.
