I was also awarded a Gold Medal by a UN affiliated Organization in Italy.

I wanted to know if my EC's\Edu. Stats\ICT Qualifications should be enough for admission into the above universities in their business programme.

Sorry for the long post. It's just that as an International who needs Aid/Scholarship even though a few of the uni's are need blind I am quite nervous. Let me know your views if I can get admitted into my wishlist colleges and ill be more than happy to chance back

Cornell, MIT, Columbia, UPenn Wharton - Dream

Not sure about others.

Academic is fine. IB is nice. Care to tell us your HL grades? a 7-7-7 will be nice.
IGCSE is almost irrelevant in colleges.
SAT is below average. Improve it to 2250+
Your ECs are better than average, but lack focus.

Frankly speaking, I’m not sure what to think about you being Ajay Puri. It’s impressive nonetheless, but it’s so distant that I’m not sure whether colleges care or not. That being said, your awards are nevertheless impressive. However I can’t guarantee that you will get into the schools you listed. Personally I don’t think it matters unless you’re using that experience to describe why you’re awesome now.

Also if you’re going to submit that site to universities, you better clean it up and make it presentable. If you want to preserve the old look for your fond memories, make it clear that you built the site when you were 3.

You’re really an interesting case and I hope that you will get into your dream universities. However I must warn that you should not rely on your 3-year-old prodigy achievements at all. You’ve got many awesome ECs after that so please talk about them.

You must be very careful to show that what you’ve achieved now is independent of what you were when you were the Microsoft Kid. There has been cases similar to you where a famous prodigy child gets rejected because he has not grown further after it. If you can show that you’ve been even more awesome than you were at 3, you’re bound to get great chances at these universities.

If I were to interpret your profile as a college admissions though, I may find your SAT I and II scores confusing in regards to your performance, though a 43/45 is impressive. I may find that your ECs are not as impressive as it could be compared to you being the Microsoft Kid. The resume on your website is plagued with errors and may seem condescending and pretentious. I may wonder if you’re still lost in your past and had not progressed ever since. I may also wonder if your achievements are only due to you being a Microsoft Kid and nothing else.

Although it is a bit harsh to say that you being a Microsoft Kid will actually hurt your chances a bit because they set higher expectations for you, I hope that you can think about your strategies and how you decide to present yourself to the colleges optimally.

You better not write your essays entirely based on the Microsoft Kid thing. It’ll be really impressive if you can show on your application that you not only managed to be the Microsoft Kid, but also managed to live up to your reputation.

Anyways good luck! I’m interested in seeing where you would go. It’s doubtless that many of the good colleges would want you but Ivy League/MIT etc. is another story. They’ve got tons of people like you.

You may be well-advised to ask about the Microsoft Kid in the Parents’ Forum and see what their thoughts are. They’ve got much more experience than me anyways, and I doubt that many here on the chance threads can provide good-enough advice for you since you’re a special case. I would say you being a Microsoft Kid will be a hook, but I’m not sure what strength that hook will be.

Just as a forethought…you being a Microsoft Kid may be slightly relevant now, but when you’re applying to jobs it would be completely useless, and most would even agree that you shouldn’t even put it on your resume.

Cornell-Reach
MIT-high Reach
Columbia-Reach
UNC-high match
Virginia-match
UPenn-high match

try improving you SAT scores if possible. Other stats look great.

Chance me back.

Hi Skyrior,

Thanks for all the feedback and for taking the time to do all the research. Infact all my essays are not on the ICT thing but on the accomplishments in other areas. I am applying for Economics/Management so that’s what guides my essays and my specific interest in that field although I have mentioned the MCP and the MOS bits as they are more recent accomplishments.

The Top in Thailand is erroneously Maths at the top of this thread - should be ICT. IB Grades are 777 at HL and 776 at SL.

Once again thank you for all your support and I would be more than pleased if I could help you in any way. If you could chance me on the above using the (Reach, Match, Safety) it will be great.

Thanks

@mskiduni

You should be careful about the Microsoft Kid though. There’s a certain bias towards people like you and they expect much more of you than from others. If I were you I wouldn’t mention it in my essays and ECs at all since it’s too dangerous.

On the flip side, your Microsoft Kid thing could be a boon if they consider it a “hook”. I’m really not sure whether it will be a hook though. It’s like a double-edged sword. It could either be a nice chance boost or a breaker of your application. But I think MIT would definitely regard it highly.

Your IB grades are very nice.

As an international student from an ORM you would expect worse chances than normal.

Cornell AEM = Reach
MIT = Reach
Columbia = High Reach
UNC = High Match ~ Low Reach
Virginia = Match
UPenn Wharton = High Reach

Reason for MIT being reach rather than high reach is because of your Microsoft Kid thing, if you decided to include it.

Good luck! You’re really an interesting applicant and I hope you will get to your dream universities! I’m just terribly worried since I heard of prodigies who get rejected from top schools.

Also UPenn Wharton is very very competitive. It’s like Harvard.

If you want to major in Economics/Management though, you have to show leadership and good management/PR skills. Your ECs seem to show that, but you have to directly explain the correlation in your essays…perhaps.

You’re fit academically. you could probably get into UNC and UVA. I’m not sure about the others, they are definite reaches.
