gpa 10-11 grade EA/ID/ED decisions and UC's stanford princeton 3.7 uw and 4.45 weighted( schools that dont look at froshie year)</p>

<p>VERY BAD FRESHMAN YEAR ( many family deaths) BUT VERY HIGH UPWARD TREND!!!NOTE THAT MY GPA INVOLVES WEIGHTING COMMUNITY COLLEGE COURSES! Please note that my gpa is very bad ( many B's), but my rank is very high. This could be due to grade deflation @ my school or it could be due to the fact that I took 30 college level courses in high school ( most ever I believe). I took 12 AP's ( 6 junior year and 6 senior year) and I took around 15+ Community College ( college level) courses outside of school.</p>

<p>UC GPA Capped? I really don't know! But my FULLY WEIGHTED GPA ( not the 8 semester limit) is a 4.45.Capped gpa should be around 3.8-4.2 range</p>

<h2>Also pertaining to my majors Poli sci and econ i did many things including starting many business and one online business hosts leagues for sports via Xbox and is estimated to make 2k -10k a month i only get 50 percent of commision though i'm hoping! Business is risky</h2>

<p>I am in the youth commission which means i represent my community with 70,000 people. I also am in charge of 15,000 dollars that i grant loans to agencies around the city to help benefit the low income of my city. I work directly with the mayor, city government. : ) I might get a recommendation from the mayor</p>

<p>With regards to courseload... I 've taken the hardest courseload at anyone at my school and in my city. I believe this could be the highlight of my app. In al my college courses I have received all A's and B's. </p>

<p>School's like Chicago told me that look more at and care more about rigor than actual gpa? Rigor is important, but what other schools do this? What should I do about my low gpa and high rank?</p>

<p>I'd say you get in everywhere maybe 2-3 rejection letters from HYPS</p>

<p>so did you just take the top 20 schools in the country and say 'hey i wanna apply to all of these?' your list is way too big. trim it down to about 8-12.
your gpa is fine btw.
not as many of those are major reaches as people are saying they are. i've heard that eagle scout looks REALLLY good to adcoms.</p>

<p>well, if you want georgetown and columbia so bad, then apply early there. you'll get into columbia ED, so problems solved</p>

<p>How is it possible for one person to do so many different activities!?!?! Your academic record with regard to these universities is not the greatest, though I would say you have a pretty good chance at the UC's and perhaps Rice in this light. However, your extracurriculars are unbelievable... I didn't even read them that closely and they look amazing. However, in light of the fact that academics are of primary importance for the universities you mentioned, I would say that each one you listed is surely possible, but may be a bit of a reach.</p>

<p>You should get into Columbia ED. I think Columbia cares about rank more than GPA. You should also explain your community college courses and all that stuff in the additional information section. You have good chances at the rest with HYPS being reaches. Thanks for chancing me earlier.</p>
