I want to go to NYU but my chances are slim. I'm thinking of either a chemistry or psychology major in CAS. I will apply ED senior year
I'm also looking at:
Boston University

SAT I: 2060 (1360 CR+M) <-- I'm retaking
ACT: 30
SAT II:
Math IIC: 740
Bio-M: 640
Will be taking Chem and US History

AP:
Euro: 3
Calc AB: 4 (taking Calc BC this year)
Bio: 4
Currently taking Chem, US History, Calc BC

EC:
Volunteer at care facility (3 years)
ACS, NHS officers
School Orchestra
Taekwondo
Wrote for school paper 1 year (a little)

What worries me is that I got C's in AP Euro and AP Bio. Would it help if I took Bio over at community college during the summer? Do you know if there's any way I can make my GPA higher by taking any extra classes or anything?

What are some things I can improve on?? (besides GPA)

Also, my grades dramatically dropped to B-'s and C's my sophomore year because I wasn't into school but for junior year I've improved and now I almost have straight A's. And I've taken all honors and AP since I was a freshman, except classes like PE and my first year of foreign language.

My suggestion would be to try to ace your AP exams, as this might be your best shot at impressing admissions. Your GPA is a little low but NYU as accepted people in the 2.0-2.99 UW range before, so you’re not completely out of it. Make sure on you’re application that you really shine and stand out, don’t write any generic essays. If you think that anyone is writing the same essay as you then start over. Colleges love to see kids that stand out, and that grasp their attention. When I went to see northeastern in MA, on of the people in admissions told a story about a girl who told them that she has to be moving a part of her body to fall asleep. Though it seemed quite strange it grasped their attention, and she got admitted. I would make sure to go to NYU multiple times and to learn about your specific field of interest. Colleges like to see that you have an interest in something there other than their prestige. Best of luck:)

Being a little over dramatic? Here’s how to lessen your stress. I think you already know your chances to NYU are slim – so are most breathing humans’ chances. What you need to do is expand your college search list and find schools you’d love to attend that you have a great chance of being admitted.

Keep up the hard work and you’ll be fine at whatever college you attend. Aiming for the top 20 in your case is a stretch, IMHO
