Chance me please? Northeastern, BU, NYU

Hey everyone,

Thank you for taking the time to do this. Just as a quick preface, I am the type of kid who had potential to do great in high school, but I'm lazy and slacked-off a lot. Thus, if you have any suggestions about other colleges in the northeast I should look at, please let me know!

I am transitioning into my senior year. I am applying to Northeastern (my first choice, loved it...going Early Action), BU, NYU....looking for others if you have opinions! Business major, and if it helps my chances I can go w/o financial aid.

My unweighted GPA is a 3.66, although I think my high-school operates on a 4.5 GPA scale, if such thing exists. I do not know my weighted GPA, but my course-selection below may give some insight (I'm a B+/A- student).

Junior Year - 3 Honors classes
Senior Year - 2 AP classes

350 people in my class, I think I'm in the top 25%

SAT: 1870, 590 Reading, 660 Math, 620 Writing (8 essay)
ACT: I tested as a standby so I don't have my score yet.

Taking SAT II's in October...I'll be taking Math II and Chemistry...maybe Lit, as well

I'm pretty weak in Extra-curriculars compared to most people I see on here.
-2011-2012 Treasurer of Pomperaug Guidance Association (charity group in high school), I was a member since beginning of Junior year.

Work:
-1 year in front-end of ShopRite
-3 years soccer referee

No essay yet.

Once again, thank you so much for reading this! Please recommend any schools in the Northeast you think I should explore.

sneeze 10

Your chances at Northeastern and BU are pretty similar. At Northeastern, half of attending students were in the top 10% at their high school and you are just barely included in the SAT midrange. BU has slightly lower SATs so your chances might be infinitesimally better there. Applying early to Northeastern means a 48% acceptance rate (according to one source) as opposed to 38%.

Look into Syracuse University as a backup - 17% of the school is in business (making it their largest major). It’s in a smaller city, but urban nonetheless.
