Chance me please - OOS for W&M, JMU, and UVa.

Hi all,

Could someone please chance me?

Stats
-23 y/o (will be 24 when I actually started classes)
-My HS GPA is low, 2.75. I graduated in 2006. Did not take SAT/ACT.

-Took time off. Started at ASU part time in Summer 2010. Went part time until now to decide what I wanted to go to school for. Will be going FT this year, hoping to xfer to William and Mary, UVa., or JMU in Fall 2012.

-ASU GPA: 3.8 (could be 3.9 after this year)

-Will be considered OOS.

-I will have most of my general ed classes done for all three schools (will need another year of foreign language though, and 1 calculus class).

-I did a dual-enrollment program while in HS. I didn't do that great in it and I have 2-3 Ws and 1 F in a French class. This was over 5 years ago though, hopefully it will not hurt me too badly?

WHAT I WANT TO APPLY FOR
I'm interested in applying for the 5-year BA/MAT programs that all 3 schools offer for teacher education. I would like to double major in History and Biology so that I can be certified to teach Biology and Social Studies to high school students. I am finding that I truly love learning, reading, and my academics.

I'm interested in William and Mary, UVa., and JMU. Could someone chance me?

Also, I am taking a full load this semester (fall 2011) and next semester (spring 2012) in preparation of transferring. Courses will include Precalc/Statistics, French 101/102, US History, Literature, Chemistry, Biology, Religion, Philosophy (15 credits each term).

JMU maybe, but the others are far reaches with that kind of high school preformance.

Thank you for responding. With it being 6 years since I graduated, and my return to college being strong with a 3.9 GPA, wouldn’t they be more likely to look at my college work though, than my HS grades from 6 years ago? Not arguing at all, just wondering what the timeframe is for when they stop looking at HS grades, and pay more attn. to college performance?

I’m not familiar with applying to such programs 6yrs after graduating, but if that is the case, college preformance would be more relevant.

On the W&M board, an admissions dean regularly responds with helpful information for interested students. You might try posting there to find out info that will help your chances at W&M.
