Chance Me Please! (UW Madison, UT Austin, Michigan, Illinois, etc.)

Hi! I am a white male from Chicago, IL looking to go into computer science. I go to a competitive private school, which has a tough grading scale (A = 93-100, B = 85-92, etc). I am currently a junior.

Weighted GPA: 3.90
Unweighted GPA: 3.74

I had an alright freshman year (~3.8 both semesters), and an extremely sub-par sophomore year (3.8 first semester, 3.3 second semester). However, Junior year I stepped it up (4.4 first semester, and a prospective 4.3 second semester because things are shaping up about the same). All it took was increased effort and maturity.

I took honors math and science freshman year.
I took honors math, and science, and Spanish sophomore year.
I am taking AP Chem, AP Java, honors Roman History, honors math, and honors econ junior year.
And as a senior I will take AP Physics, Honors Robotics, AP BC Calc, AP Macro, and honors english.

My extra curricular are not extremely strong. They are as follows:
JV Lacrosse
JV Soccer
Officer Position at my school’s robotics club
Member of programming club at my school
I’m not quite sure if it helps, but I do have an app on the apple app store (albeit a pretty boring game)
If it would help, I could make another simple app relatively easily

And for my standardized tests:
ACT: 32, 33 superscore
35 English, 30 Math, 31 Reading, and 30 Science
new SAT: 1460
750 Reading
700 Math

Using this information, please chance me for the following:

University of Wisconsin - Madison
University of Texas - Austin
University of Illinois
University of Michigan
Purdue
University of Virginia
University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill
University of Iowa
Texas Christian University

Michigan, Texas, UNC, and Virginia would be what I consider to be my reaches
TCU and Iowa would be what I consider to be my safeties.

Thanks!

University of Wisconsin - Madison - Accepted
University of Texas - Austin - Borderline, but I’ll guess accepted. Their CS programs are very competitive, though, so it could go either way.
University of Illinois - (I’m assuming you mean UIUC? They’ve got the best CS) Similar to UT austin, I would guess accepted but your GPA could hurt you.
University of Michigan - I’ll guess denied.
Purdue - Accepted
University of Virginia - Probably rejected, OOS is super hard here
University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill - Same story as UVA, probably a rejection
University of Iowa - Accepted
Texas Christian University - Accepted

You look like a pretty solid applicant, and for CS schools, having made apps or having done big projects will help, so doing another one would be great, especially if you can make it something interesting, beyond a game. I think your weakness could be GPA, but that scale definitely looks like your school deflates GPA, so I can’t really get a gauge on how colleges will look at it. Your ECs in general are OK, try and take bigger roles in your robotics club, and keep developing apps. Your scores also may be a little on the low side for some of the upper places on your list.

If you’re looking for really solid CS schools that aren’t impossible to get in to, I’d also advise checking out Georgia Tech (Similar acceptance difficulty to Michigan), UFlorida, UMD, UC-San Diego, UWashington, or Northeastern. Good luck.

Would you mind chancing me back?
