Chance Me Please: worried about freshman GPA! (I will chance back)

Hello,

I go to a nationally acclaimed public magnet school specifically for business (intended major), and my unweighted GPA is a 3.815- my school does not weight GPA. I had a 3.446 freshman year, and 4.0's sophomore and junior year. All my freshman and sophomore courses were very rigorous due to the nature of my school, and all my junior courses were taught at the IB level. In addition, I will graduate with the IB Diploma.

I have a 2250 on the SAT, as well as a 750 on the Chemistry and US History SAT II, and a 780 on the Math SAT II.

I have leadership positions on six clubs, three of which I have founded as not for profits, and made them clubs at my school. I also have the Presidential Award for Volunteer Service, and have 250+ volunteer hours.

I am also on NHS, Spanish Honor Society, and am decently accomplished on my school's Model UN Team, and very accomplished on my schools DECA chapter, (won numerous awards/am on the chapter board).

I also do business research at my school, and have done political campaigning, and have had two internships in finance/business. I am also on my school's golf team, and an editor for the school newspaper. I am also a part of many business/finance/economics things at my school and am decently accomplished in them (Federal Reserve Challenge, Business Professionals of America, Future Business Leaders of America).

I have also won a few writing competitions, part of church youth group, and am part of my school store's management team. I have also founded a crowdfunding project to supply water filtration straws to children in a few African countries.

As part of one of the clubs I lead, we went on a trip to Cambodia to help build schools using funds we raised.

I have also attended a one week program at Georgetown, and three week program at Brown.

Schools of Interest (Greatest Interest-Least):
UPenn (Wharton), UPenn (College), Duke, Dartmouth, Brown, Georgetown, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Cornell, Boston College, UC Berkeley, NYU (Stern), Villanova.

I would also appreciate any recommendations for safety schools. I live in NJ and am a white male.

Thanks in Advance!
Please also include my chances if applying early!!!! Thanks!

Don’t worry about your freshman gpa when you got 4.0 the rest of HS. A 3.8 or above is good for any school and if you don’t get in it isn’t because of your gpa. Your SAT is good. Same thing with this, you won’t get rejected because of it. I would suggest Rutgers as a safety because of in state tuition. Probably all of the schools from UPenn through Cornell are reaches along with Berkeley. However these schools are reaches for anybody. You might want to slim down that list of reaches. NYU, BC, and Villanova are matches. Again Rutgers is a good safety.

MegaMetalHead, if my SAT and GPA are not the reasons I wouldn’t get in, than it must be ECs. What type of ECs do you think I am missing, because I thought mine were pretty good

I think you have fairly good chances at all these schools, I’d say mid-reach at all the ivies and low-reach to match at the rest.
I think your EC’s are excellent, because they show initiative and leadership. I think what you really need is a killer essay, letters of rec, and interview.
Good luck!!!
Chance me back?

Well your EC’s are awesome and I phrased it kinda badly. What I meant to say is that you have a shot at all of them and you will probably get into a good amount of them but it is a real crapshoot and therefore a reach for anybody.
