Chance me please

I know my chances aren't great, but here goes nothing.

UC GPA: 3.25

California Resident, Hispanic
Lots of extra curriculars and community service hours
Great personal statements (reviewed by lots of people)

Your test scores are good, but I’d say it’s a bit of a reach. What these stats tell me is that you’re smart, but lazy. That’s not what most schools want. They’d much rather have someone with a higher GPA and mediocre test scores.

so what would you say my chances are?

Your SAT and ACT scores are impressive, I believe they will use your EQ and essay

I say you’ve got a 30-40% chance

Soo many chance threads this season. . .

Nah, I’d give it a 70/80% chance.

How competitive is your high school kobysteel?

It’s pretty competitive, it’s nationally ranked. usnews best high schools says its top 100 in Best Math and Science Schools

Sounds chill.

I’m upping your chance to 80/90%, admitted.

If you don’t make it. . .well, I apologize in advance. -_________________-

Hairy lemon what do you think about my chances?

haha thanks hairy lemon, i hope i get in ucsb is sick. do you go to ucsb?

Goddammit, do I really need to type out my entire reply again? S___ internet timing out on me. . .

Noo koby, my location is a lie. Duh

Yes, I am currently a second year at UCSB haha. Many, including I love our college. Is UCSB your first choice?

Nice thread jack son. lol

You have a good chance. I’d like to say I’d be surprised if UCSB rejects you, but I need clarification:

Your rank: 155/456. I’m trying to analyze that number, but my brain is currently fried. Is your current high school competitive?

I’d say fairly competitive. I believe its in the top 3% of high schools in the country.

yes it is my first choice but i’m really borderline so idk if I’ll get in

I’d put you in the 85% range.

Disclaimer: I am no oracle to all. My (chance thread) words must be taken with a grain of salt.

Eh we’ll see.

I got in with a ~3.3 UC GPA and an 1810 on my SAT. Not to mention I had six C’s and three D’s on my transcript.

And I wasn’t a minority.

Admissions is always strange and random in the UC’s. -.-

hairy lemon - how accurate are your predictions? I mean have you predicted others’ chances and was correct?

God, you would ask such a question. -.-

Give me a few to go back to ALL threads I’ve predicted in. . .

700th post. woot. (Or, maybe I’ve been on CC for too long. . .)

haha my bad. it’s chill if you can’t answer i’m just wondering cuz i really wanna know if i have an 80% chance like you say

You like numbers? You just got a load of numbers!

48 pages of thread-sifting, and countless post-searching, I have compiled my lifetime record at saying “yes” or “good chance” to chance threads of UCSB.

All threads I chance’d in up to Summer 2011:

KEY:

[ul][]0/1 = incorrect prediction.
[]1/1 = correct prediction
[]-/1 = OP never confirmed his/her acceptance/reject from UCSB…
[]* indicates appeal attempt.[/ul]

The numbers:

0/1
1/1
1/1
0/1(it was an appeal attempt.)
-/1 (never heard back)
-/1 (never heard back, attending USC)
-/1 (never heard back, accepted at Cal Poly SLO, Business Admin.)
-/1 (never heard back, no idea where she ended up)
-/1 (never heard back)
-/1 (never heard back, last seen attempting to appeal at UC Davis)
-/1 (never heard back, last seen off Davis’ waitlist.)
1/1
-/1 (flaked off, at UCI now, I believe)
0/1(at UCSC now)
1/1*

Overall record of correct predictions for admissions: 3-1-8
Overall record of correct predictions for appeals: 1-2

In other words: I am no oracle. My words are to be taken with a grain of salt.

wow that was really extensive and unnecessary but i appreciate it, thank you
