You’re just starting junior year and you have already taken the ACT and scored a 35?

Check out Table 15
http://www.american.edu/provost/oira/upload/ADRB-2011-12.pdf</a>
AU admitted 74% of applicants with GPA 4.0 or higher (that’s either weighted or unweighted, however it’s reported, if I understand correctly).

I’ll be honest about this: That statement looks like either:

  1. Disingenous false modesty
  2. Unattractive self-deprecation or
(and this is what I think it is)
  3. A failure to research this school on your own to determine who is normally in the applicant pool and whom they normally admit. This information is available from many sources, such as Collegeboard.org, the school’s own website, etc. You are very early in the college search process if you are just starting junior year, and the best advice I can give is for you to become familiar with these sources of information and to take advantage of them.

If you read the VERY NEXT POST on this board, the AU databook was linked there and you could have answered this question for yourself.

Hey sorry I didn’t mean to up shoul I even bother applying … I just copied and pasted a previous post from one of my reach schools

P.S I’m a senior and have a 31 composite act

Ah, I see. I was confused because you described your senior year schedule as “anticipated,” and most students would know what their schedule is by now, so I thought you were projecting what you might take. I didn’t notice you’d put the composite score at the end of the ACT scores–mistook your first sub-score for your composite.

Either way, your chances at American are excellent, but you have to demonstrate your interest to them and not give them the impression they are your safety if you don’t get into Georgetown, KWIM?

If you have a 4.0 your junior year with all those APs, I think your application is very strong. Keep up the good work and show American the love. Do the online chats if you can’t visit.
