Chance Me Please

First off, thank you in advance for your help.

I would like to know how good my chances of acceptance into FSU. Particularly, I would like to major in Theatre.

Weighted GPA 4.0958
Unweighted GPA 4.0

My school has stopped adding points to GPAs for honors, AP and dual enrollment classes.

When available, all high school classes have been at least at an honors level. When I graduate, I will have only one AP class but three dual enrollment classes completed.

Class rank is 29 of 449

I do not have many extra-curricular activities. However, I have been involved in the Drama club (VP) and involved in all productions in some way. I am also a member of our highest division of choir as soprano #1. I am also a member of the National Honors Society.

I am employed, but have recently reduced my available hours due to heavy school schedule and the ability to focus on drama productions.

Sadly, my ACT scores are not great. Currently, my best cumulative score is a 25. However, I took the test again this weekend and feel very confident.

I live out of state, so I know the criteria is tougher. Since OOS tuition is higher, any insight into average GPA/ACT scores for grants/scholarships would help immensely.

As for FSU admissions GPA good but you will need to pull up your ACT. Have you looked at the FSU Theatre application yet? It is hard to get into the Theatre program at FSU good luck!

Thanks for the reply. The first goal is to get into the school. The second goal will be to nail the audition.

The way I understand it, I can still major in theatre but not necessarily be in the über competitive conservatory program.

I think you should be fine. If your unweighted GPA really is a 4.0, you’ll get in with a bunch of Honors classes and some AP and Dual Enrollment included. Your ACT isn’t that low for FSU (a 25 isn’t bad), and SAT/ACT scores are the least important of the 3 big factors- GPA, course rigor, and test scores- to FSU.

The theatre audition and all that is involved in getting accepted to that program would be more of a concern to me.
