I have a GPA of 3.75 unweighted and 3.9 weighted. I am in the top 25% of my class. MY SAT scores are 570 math and 530 CR. I am taking them again in early November.
I am in the National Honor Society, DECA and captain of the cheerleaders.
I want to go into Business but I know that Smeal is highly competitive. So I am thinking as going into undecided to better my chances?!
So, do I apply now with my Nov SAT scores to follow or wait until after I take them. I really want to go to Penn State main and can’t see myself at a branch campus.
As long as your application is complete by November 30, you are good. You can apply now, send your SAT’s when available and then your application will be considered complete. Your GPA is good, but yes, Smeal is competitive. If you apply DUS you can always take the entry to major requirements for Smeal as well, so it doesn’t hurt you to do so.
Applying with the summer option means that Penn State will evaluate you first for Fall (make sure you put fall as your first choice), then ONLY if you don’t get in for fall would they evaluate you for summer. Summer session for 2016 doesn’t begin until the end of June. My daughter did summer session for 2015…she graduated June 6 and we moved her in June 28.
