I’m not going to apply to all these schools obviously but out of these probably max 15.

Oh and on October ACT I think i may have gotten a 34 but I can’t be certain.

Also I’m probably going to major somewhere in business. Either finance, accounting, or business administration and management.

What do your parents say about how much can they pay since many of these schools will be every expensive with little to no financial aid? (California UC’s)

Forgot to mention I’m white.

I’m middle class but I’m not certain how much they can pay. Definitely will be taking out loans. Maybe like 10k to 20k loan per year.

The California UC’s give little to no financial aid to OOS students so expect to pay $55K/year to attend. You as a student would only be able to take out a total of $27K for 4 years so that leaves around $193K for your parents to pay.

I would run the Net Price Calculators for all the schools on your list and narrow down based on your financial situation. If you do get your ACT of 34, there are many schools that would give merit aid for your stats, so I would focus on those schools not the UC’s.

Thank you. I thought that private loans could go higher than $27K for 4 years though. Also what are my chances for the other schools.

You as a student are limited to $27K (Federal loans) but your parents can take out larger amounts of loans depending upon their income. No bank will fund a private loan for students. I suggest you and your parents read up on the types of financial that are available.

Yeah that’s what I was talking about. My parents will take out private loans.

But do you think you can chance me please. i would really appreciate it.

I am not familiar with any of the schools other than the UC’s.

Oh ok that’s fine but can you chance me for the UC schools at least please. You only mentioned financial aid. And does my work off the books and the care of my sick grandmother over the past 4 years count as an extracurricular.

Class rank definitely hurts you. Get the list smaller based on price, environment, size, and your major.

No one wants to chance 20+ schools

You need to run the Net Price calculators using your parents income information to see if you are eligible for financial aid. Each school will determine what your need is, so you need to work with your parents to find affordable options. Again, a high ACT and GPA can get you merit aid at many of the schools, but not at the UC’s.

I will chance you for the UC’s but i think the point is moot if your parents do not want to spend close to $200,000 for you to attend.

The UC’s calculate their GPA based on your grades from the a-g course requirements and will give you extra honors points for AP/IB or DE course taken during this time (max 8 semesters or 4 year long courses).
Here are the a-g course requirements and the UC GPA calculator:

Taking care of family would be considered an EC. You might want elaborate on it for one of your UC personal insight questions.

Thank you

Also need your intended major.
