RESEARCH EXPERIENCE:
--I have completed original research on two projects, one involving chemistry, the other involving a bit of physics, environmental science, and biology-mixed. I will be sending my abstracts for both research projects. Neither projects were published, nor did I send them to any science competitions (haven't had the time, I've been too tired and sometimes lazy)

DESIRED COLLEGES (in no particular order):
1. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Troy, New York)
2. Amherst College (Amherst, Massachusetts)
3. Williams College (Williamstown, Massachusetts)
4. Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania)
5. Boston University (Boston, Massachusetts)
6. Haverford College (Haverford, Pennsylvania)
7. Northeastern University (Boston, Massachusetts)
8. Northwestern University (Evanston, Illinois)
9. University of Chicago (Chicago, Illinois)
10. University of Richmond (Richmond, Virginia)
11. Princeton University (Princeton, New Jersey)

POSSIBLE MAJORS:
--Mathematics
--Physics
--Economics

P.S. As you can see, my colleges are diverse in level of difficulty, so don't worry, for instance I won't cry if I don't get into like Princeton, I am down to earth man!

hey fellow desi,

1.Rensselaer Poly- Safety
2. Amherst- Match
3. Williams- No clue
4. Carnegie Mellon- Match
5. Boston University- Safety
6. Haverford- Match
7. Northeastern- Match
8. Northwestern- Slight Reach (meaning there is about 405 chance ull get in)
9. university of Chicago - Match
10. University of Richmond- No clue
11. Princeton university- Slight Reach (meaning there is about 405 chance ull get in)

^I frankly think he has no chance of getting in Princeton, Northwestern, and University of Chicago, and I do not think Carnegie Mellon is a match, it is at the very least a slight reach. And Amherst College is most certainly a reach, his SAT Reasoning score is fairly low, and only about 19% get into Amherst.

I am not saying all this to be mean, I am just being realistic. I have seen the best possible candidates being rejected from the top schools, sometimes for absolutely no reason, just because there were too many perfect candidates. I myself was as passionate as you are not too long ago, but I really had to rethink everything through. At first I didn't do the proper research, but after doing so, I have learnt that the selection process is more competitive/arbitrary than one might think. But at least you're down to earth! Haha.

i sorta agree with ya gametheory

yes..princeton is very reachy...

What about Carnegie Mellon??? I REALLY want to go to Carnegie Mellon. And is it safe to say I can get into Boston University and Northeastern University safely?

Also, should I have more safeties, and if so, which ones?

Also, I'll probably kick out UChicago and Princeton out of the list, but I'll leave in Northwestern since it is slightly easier to get into than Princeton and it is slightly better in science and mathematics than UChicago.

Please help, I really need some help!

REMEMBER THAT IT IS NOT SAFE TO SAY THAT A COLLEGE IS A GAURANTEE SAFETY...EVER!!!

Carnegie and NW should be no problem

wut up my desi bros sat123 and satscholar...

i would say ur in for most of them except princeton and amherst. you seem like a match at carnegie-mellon. Also, I live right near RPI and i think theres no doubt you'll get in there cuz there are ppl with worse hs grades/stats that are there, so dnt wrry bout rpi.

I think you should also look at Georgia Tech. It is better than RPI, a bit more competitive but a relatively good match for you, and it is also not too expensive. Unless you don't want to go to Georgia, which is the case with me, 'cause many people recommend Georgia Tech to me as well, which is a great school, but living in NY for all my life, I feel unconformtable even thinking about moving to the south. But if you don't have that problem, definitely look into it.
