by the way from s public high school in ct and theres about 600 people in my class.

You look like a strong and talented candidate.

I would say that you have a far above average chance of receiving an acceptance letter, provided that your standardized testing is satisfactory.

Good luck!

Thanks kwu.

Well, obviously you should try to maximize your grades and SAT scores, but aside from that, I think you should shift your focus away from a monotonous, incongruous list of EC's to a goal-oriented or passion-driven one. I mean, volunteering and leadership conferences are great, but Columbia really does not care at all how many hours you spend volunteering or the amount of conferences you go to. There's no magical conversion rate between hours of EC's and "college points."

What's your prospective major? Whatever that is, or even whatever your general field of interest is, pursue EC's that are a) related to that field and b) meaningful.

Wait, did you teach SAT prep or just take a prep course. If the latter, then I don't recommend putting that on your application. . . .

By the way, I have no choice but to agree with the Godfather on his point,
which I did not consider after glancing over your stellar grades and minority status,
that it is not advisable to make oneself out to be a Renaissance (wo)man by propagating a laundry list of activities.

On the Columbia application, there is only space for your six (or was it seven?) most important extracurriculars. There is also no space for one to convey the number of hours one has spent performing an activity. Although one could risk attaching additional information, it should be substantive more than quantitative. Quality over quantity. It's not that Columbia doesn't care.

I would advise you get your priorities in order.
