<p>Berkeley doesn't take recommendations. You look pretty good for in-state. I think the best way to chance yourself is to take a look at the graduating class from your school from the year before. If people in your GPA range got in last year, you probably will too.</p>
<p>Although I agree with you, Castel, that she has a very good chance of getting in, it's not for certain, there are many exceptions I know three people who got in to UCLA and UCB with 1600 SAT and 4.5+ GPAs, but I also know Tennis Captain with 2000+ SAT and 4.4+ GPA that didn't get into UCLA and UCB. I believe it's more about how you present yourself as a whole, and not just academics, this is where the essay plays a big part.
Edit: You will probably get in, being president of ASB will give you some good brownie points.</p>
