umm, do you think my EC's from the Philippines will count, too?

Wellz, you schooled me in EC's thats for sure =). If you do good on the ssat and teacher reccs I'd say you have a great chance.

My advice on ssat: Ok, I can only advise on verbal which I got a 99 on parades around the room, anyways, if your willing to work really hard: make a vocab card for every single word in the kaplan book. It helped me tons, atleast 6 of the words I memorized were on the test.
Hope to see ya at exeter =)

I think you can include all ec's that you did in middle school if you are in 8th grade and applying. You are not restricted to the ec's that you doing in 8th grade. Of course, if you have a deep interest in an ec, have won awards, and have been doing it for many years, that is a plus. If you have ec's that you only did in lower school, I would not include those unless something you did was truly exceptional.

You would be wise to add one or two more schools that are not among the most competitive schools, like Exeter and Andover. This is a standard suggestion that I would give to every applicant.

haha seriously istoleyournose? by the way, love your username! I memorized all of the ones in the Kaplan book, and not a single one showed up on the test! i think you're better off memorizing latin roots. :( I think I totally bombed the verbal section. when do scores come out anyways?

thingslost,
Your right, I must've used 5 different books worth of words totaling about 500 words that I didn't know. What I really meant is that studying the book words was effective for me, not so much a recommendation of kaplan in particular.

what? nose jobs start at like 4000, or at least the good ones. if you're going to steal a nose, at least steal a celebrity's ;) by the way, what is wrong with your nose?

to thingslot and istoleyournose - you guys [girls and boys.i like saying guys, my second fave word, after 'dude'.haha] are awesome!i have read some of your posts and i like how your frank and very straight to the point...your constructed criticisms are said in very nice ways..you can tell me bad things about me, that's fine..in fact, i would appreciate it.. :) hope that we all get into our desired schools. best of luck to everyone!

Aww. that's so sweet! thanks! I seriously don't think I have any bad things to say about you though, perhaps you would like me to make some up? :D

The best thing you have going for you is that you are from the Phillipines. Most of the schools like to have a diverse student body. Your SSAT score will tell a lot about your chances. If you really want to go to prep school, you need to increase the number of schools on your list.
