Chance me please?

Hi. I know my situation may be a little different because I'm an athlete, but I just want some food for thought. I think the coach is pretty interested in me for lacrosse; so hypothetically if he did want me, could I get in with these numbers?

GPA: 3.0
High School: highly selective prep school
High school does not rank students
Ethnicity: white
No financial aid
SAT: 2060: 660CR 660M 740W
Classes: our school does not offer official AP classes but I took 3 AP exams and am awaiting my scores. Otherwise I am in regular classes for my school with the exception of advanced biology and advanced algebra 3.

Extracurriculars:
3 years on school Senate: at-large representative as senior
13 years of violin
selected by school administration to serve as one of two students on Head of School Search Advisory Committee to select new Head of School
Varsity Wrestling Captain
Varsity Lacrosse Captain
KidPower tutoring, 60 hours of service

ATHLETE WANTED BY COACH
in addition to Cornell, what are my chances at NESCAC schools like Amherst and Wesleyan? Or a school like WashU or Emory?
Thanks!

You really need to get that GPA up and the SAT scores. Also, you should take THE hardest courses your school offers.

Your SAT is fine for an athlete.
Extracurriculars are fine.

Take the most challenging courses your school offers. Try to bring up your GPA.

get up the GPA!

If you can raise your GPA, then you’ll have a decent shot. All of your other numbers and extracurricular activities look good.

I just finished my Freshman year at Franklin and Marshall College and am looking to transfer to Cornell school of AEM for the spring 2010 semester or 2010 fall semester. I currently have a 3.42 GPA, my father went to the architecture school and my cousin went to the school of engineering. I have very good extra circulars. I went to a very selective school in the Independent School League and got a 3.2 or so (we didn’t have GPA). What are my chances of being accepted?
