You might get in; my stats are slightly higher than yours (within a few points on the ACT and decimals on the GPA) and I was accepted EA. It’ll depend on what you put on your application that matters. I put down my important ECs (as well as wrote paragraphs for each of them on how much I have done in them–not too much on what we do) and wrote an essay about my influences in life. Lastly, since you have community service down, I think Tulane would love it (I am the Community Service organization Co-President of my school).

What plays in this is how rigorous your high school is. My high school was pretty tough and a senior got in with lower stats than I did last year.

I’m only basing my opinions off from what I have noticed with Tulane. Sorry if I’m wrong on some stuff.

Also, I’m getting the impression that you’re from STL. I am. And that you’re Chinese…I am, too. :P

Your GPA is about average, ACT is bottom 25%, but your ECs are strong. I think it depends on your mid semester grades. How do they compare to your Junior year?

OMG, lol. I don’t think I qualify as famous, but I appreciate the sentiment. I am no longer near there, but still get back from time to time. Where do you attend high school, Moon?

sometimes i think it matters how much interest you showed in tulane before you applied. for me, i got the map, the dvd, i set up a visit and went tulane crazy before i even applied. then in the summer before my senior year, i got an email for a personal application which took me about fifteen minutes to fill out. i had a 3.55 and was taking a few AP classes. i never wrote an essay and my sat score was 2040 (640 m 640 v 760 w). i got in with a scholarship (24k/yr) within the month!

Completely agree with you cneelz. It is clear, however, that Tulane is a full step more selective this year based on the numerous anecdotes I have heard here and elsewhere about who got accepted, who got deferred, and the kinds of scholarships they are giving for certain stat levels. Good for the school, tough for the kids that have to wait it out.

I’m from the Rockwood Summit school district, not a typical Ladue or Clayton around CC. I kid; I kid! But anyway, I thank you fallenchemist for helping us a lot through our college process. :)
