Your grades may hurt you, but Davidson cares a lot about the essays and the right fit for the school. If you want to come here, then show a ton of interest, make first semester of senior year amazing if you apply RD, and write great essays.

thanks for your advice, i definitely need a decent essays and someother facts that i can show the improvements.

what is davidson looking for in a student and how would you define a good essay?..

A tough question because the answer can’t be objectively defined. Well, I guess some of it can be-they want the hardest classes and success in those classes. That’s their first priority. I got into Davidson with all A’s minus one B and maybe an A-. I took the max number of AP classes.

I guess I can sum it up by saying at Davidson wants the essay, especially the supplement, to reflect that you are a good fit for Davidson-someone who is passionate, studious, and, most important, full of honor and integrity. A good essay shows who you are-it is not necessarily on the most serious topic there is, as long as it comes from your own personality. Talking to one of the admissions counselors last year, she said her favorite essay of all time was about a girl who wrote it about why her favorite food is peanut butter and somehow incorporated things about her life and family.

Make sure they know how badly you want to go to Davidson. I contacted a bunch of the senior student contacts they have, and I visited/had an individual information session. I have no doubt that it helped me.

Lastly, if you are an URM student, you will have a very good advantage. That is a fact.
