Question: I’m not the best at standardized tests, so will my high gpa balance my test scores?
I would think your ACT score will unfortunately knock you out of the running for UCB and UCLA, I’m looking at my daughter’s high school naviance, there were two applicants accepted with a 29 or lower ACT of 303 applicants. For Berkeley there were 3 applicants under a 29 ACT of 189 applicants. I think you would get into all of the other UC’s you listed. I would still apply to UCLA and Berkeley, your GPA is amazing, like valedictorian high. I would probably apply under history if you are considering that major, better shot than business.
UC GPA weighted capped? https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
UC’s are very GPA focused, so having a high GPA with a slightly lower ACT is advantageous for most of the UC’s except for the super selective such as UCSD/UCLA/UCB where you want a high GPA and test scores.
With your current stats, I agree that UCI/UCSB would be your best chances. The other 3 schools are Reaches but worth an application fee. Make sure you have a few more Match and Safety schools on your list.
Good Luck.
Thank you so much, this was probably the first good comment I’ve gotten on this forum.
