Average = 82.6% (my school doesn't use GPA format and this is very low I know >.<)

SAT = 2030 (retaking this October)
CR=600
Math=770
Writing=660

SAT II
Math II=760
US Hist=690

-I go to a very prestigious high school in New York City
-Captain of varsity wrestling team
-Model UN
-Wildlife Club
-Good recs from english teacher and math teacher
-Working for a senator

Everything looks good, and that experience with the senator should really stand out. However, a 82.6% B- GPA is low. It might be a huge reach, but if you could bring that up to a 3.3-3.5 you could have a decent chance. Best of luck!

Thank you! I will def. get those grades up. Anyone else?

^From out of state, I doubt it. I’d say you have near-no chance. Unless you come from one of the highschools that bearcats will list later, you’ve probably got no shot.

Thanks for your input! Yeah I didn’t really think I had much of a shot with these grades. Any tips on improving my chances? or is there absolutely no way?

If you have an upward grade trend you can explain this in question 45 on the application. Tell them how much you’ve grown since freshman year academically. Furthermore, is your % formulated to the Michigan “GPA standard”?

Well, get your grades up as high as you can and see what happens. We’re not the admissions people, and we’re not always right. You know what you need to do to have the best shot, and if it’s still not enough for UMich it may be enough for some other college you’d like to go to.

Thank you! I will def. work extra hard senior year to get those grades up. As for GPA standard, I was told mine was about a 3 or 3.1 out of a 4.0 scale.
