He’s exaggerating. With your SATs, you have a good chance at all of those schools except Harvard, Princeton and probably Amherst. For those three, you would have to be very lucky. Your SATs are above the average for GW, BC, Gettysburg, Tufts, and Georgetown.
But there are no guarantees, of course, that you will get in to any particular school, but you should get in to some of them.
With your language skills, you should consider adding Middlebury to the list,
GW and Gettys would be safeties, Tufts and BC would be mid-high matches (you really have to show interest), and the rest would be reaches. You have the smarts, but your ECs are weak/ set you back. You’ll look like all the other 4.0 applicants. Although, your interest in languages is pretty cool (not very unique, but still pretty cool). With a great essay(perhaps about your experience in China!), I think you have a pretty good shot at Georgetown. Harvard and Princeton are unlikely but you probably knew that…unless your applying as a linguistics major, then you actually might have a decent chance. Good luck
Ignore @soze. None of these schools have an SAT “line”. Your profile fits that of a typical selective school candidate, which can be both a good and bad thing. Just really make sure to stand out in your essays!
Thanks you guys, I didn’t outline all my extracurriculars but I’m really involved in my school and community. I appreciate the honesty, I suppose I should of initially asked “am I a competitive applicant at these schools”. Thank you!
Any idea what your unweighted GPA is?
How many B’s or C’s have you gotten in high school?
What grade have you just finished?
How many AP’s have you taken/ will you take and what scores have you recieved on AP tests?
What are you interested in studying?
Will you need financial aid?
Answer all of the questions above and everyone will be able to provide you with more accurate chances.
I’ve gotten no C’s and two 89’s. The rest have been all high A’s. I’ve taken AP world and got a 4. I took apush ap Lang and I did an independent study of ap psyche. I expect 4+ on all of them. Additionally, I’ll be taking ap lit, ap bio, ap calc ab, and ap gov next year. I just finished my junior year with straight A’s all the way through. I’m interested in studying international affairs and international business. I will need financial aid
-Amherst: high match/low reach
-Georgetown: low reach
-Tufts: match
-GW: safety
-Princeton: high reach (as for anybody)
-Gettysburg: safety
-Harvard: high reach (as for anybody)
-Boston College: match
I think you have a good chance at most of these schools.
