Valerie: Sorry no one responded to your post sooner. You have very competitive numbers. I don’t think there should be much doubt here. As always, apply to a range of schools. With your numbers, a couple even more selective than Colgate is worth the effort (and a couple less selective to cover your bases). As for the B’s, forget about it. Nothing wrong with a mix of B’s and A’s.

Very good work which puts you solidly in the Colgate applicant pool, I think. I like the rowing, too, as Colgate is a pretty athletic place. If you are fairly good at it, and if you plan to continue rowing in college, I’d definitely mention that. In fact, if you are a pretty good athlete, one approach is to contact the athletic office and tell them who you are and ask to talk to a coach. If they want you enough, they can tell the Admissions people that. Not sure anyone recruits for rowing, though, but it can’t hurt to ask. Still, those who speak up get chosen!

The important thing about your B’s is that they were in challenging Honors and AP courses which shows you are pushing yourself. They will like that. Colgate is a place where students work hard. I don’t see why you shouldn’t apply, and I think you have a very good chance there. Good luck!
