sweeetaaa, I seriously feel you do not have a shot at Oberlin.

To believe that your ecs like "temple cleaning program" would get you into Oberlin would be at the very least foolhardy. In my city, even a 5 year kid cleans temples, that doesn't mean he is a good candidate for Oberlin.
Prioritise your ecs.

And, your subject combination may be strongest in your school but is still no where near a competent course.

Your long list of brag does little to convince me. The workings of my mind might not be similar to that of an Oberlin adcom, but honestly, how could anyone take all this in? You do have the idea that your ECs are nothing if not complimented by your counselor's recommendation. Indeed, they might even be harmful if they are not stated in your GC evaluation. And if your counselor ever decided to include all your ECs, just imagine what your recs would look like.
Incidentally, how could you ever be so naive as to believe whatever you do ni a foreign country counts as an outstanding EC for US College adcoms. Imagine the nerve of someone writing "Tree plantaion", as if the US does not have trees or people to plant them. Perhaps your mind, twisted by the* toughest possible course *load offered by the school, has indeed gone senile. One can plant a tree as easily in the US as one can in a foreign country.

If truth be told, you are in dire need of prioritising your ECs. A list of brag fails to convince all but the naivest.

And how in the name of your 100 trees is anyone to understand what "Choyu House" means?

with this attitude i am sure you are going nowhere , not even Oklahama state university...u requested for others' comments for a lot of times and when finall someone stops by and put on some comments, u hide inside the cover.... to feared to come outside.

If you can't dare to face the realities.... u better leave this cc because cc is for those who can dare.....
i feel u haven't done enough research about Oberlin.. Cbelin is fearless, where there is no place for people like you

Be more careful when u choose colleges next time.. u could be better off at some community colleges where u can only plant treees and nothing else

u know its entirely possible that this person simply hasn't checked this thread in a while... or felt he/she could get more worthwhile advice from a more reliable source than some kids chatting on a board.

I don't much about the person asking the questions but if you ask me, you guys are all being way too harsh on him/her.

I personally believe Sweta has a good chance. Although my opinion is not what counts, I definitely think she is Oberlin material. Don't be so harsh on her!

btw, Sweta I would love to have a look at your essays! Just PM me!

hussey, bocca and darasta:
I did not reply to ur comments only becoz I had not stopped by to chek this thread for quite some time NOT BECOZ I WAS HIDING BEHIND A COVER OR I FEARED TO COME OUTSIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!! well maybe it is easy to plant trees or clean temples and anyone could have done that but not everyone does.......it might be a simple thing but what matters is u take initiatives and make whatever positive contribution u can to the society. Colleges certainly don't expect u to have jumped into a building in fire and rescued whosoever is trapped in or to have saved this world from a perilous alien attack bcoz those events are rarely going to happen in our lives. Instead, those nitty gitty times in life when you decide do something good is what is important and they prepare you do some bigger goods. Colleges are not looking for only perfect candidates, they are looking for students who are motivated!!! And anyways I have never said that I will get into oberlin by just planting trees and cleaning temples!!!!!!!!!

And well Mr.BOCCA I certainly think the US adcoms do evaluate the ECs in the context of the applicant's country.

hussey- "your subject combination may be strongest in your school but is still no where near a competent course." ----but that is what matters, I don't think anyone hops from one school to another for every other class to bring together a internationally "competent course-load"!!!

darasta----"deputy cultural captain"-I think this is plain english. what is it that you don't understand?!

"well maybe it is easy to plant trees or clean temples and anyone could have done that but not everyone does."

For what it's worth, for Day of Service, which most freshmen do, there's a lot of tree planting and wall painting. It's seen as a very Oberlin virtue to help one's community, whether that means tutoring or cleaning a school. You don't need to cure cancer, you just need to care. And from your CV, it's clear that you do.

guys/gals from nepal,
are you all applying to oberlin? man, i hope all of you get in!

swetaaa, i guess you are fine. if i were you, i wouldn't worry abt the comments posted abt your ecs. they look fine to me. remember-We are oberlin. FEARLESS! cleaning a temple is good enough. if i had even cleaned my room once in my life (which unfortunately i didn't), i would have put it in my ecs. it's a matter of who you are, not who you think you should be or who others expect you to be. so, be proud. good luck.

hahahahahha!!!!!!!!!! now thats a REAL GOOD JOKE!!!!! what do u think US adcoms are so dump headed that they will accept someone only becoz she is a girl from some third world country without even looking at their APP!!!!!!! Is it ur jealousy that is spilling out in this thread?!?!?!?! I guess you could not handle being deffered by Dartmount, dickinson blah blah when DESERVING girls got in!!!!!!!! And YEAH who else would know about writing fake ECs...ofcourse the one who do!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and U know what I was being too modest when I said I dunno what my recs would be like------one of my rec teachers said that he has encountered only a few people like ME so far who has the ability to grasp concepts very fast and easily and who can use it well!!!!!!!! And mind you I AIN"T NO FAKING ABOUT IT!!!!!! if I get a college it will be because I deserve it and I fit in it not simply becoz I am a girl....................................and for ur very kind information - guys have advantages in LACs compared to girls coz the adcoms are desperately trying to balance the girls to boys ratio but many are still stuck with 60 40 and on top of that LACs have more women applicants. So if you know probability than u should be able to calculate who has more prob of getting in......oophs but you might have been sleeping while the teacher taught about it and just happened to pass finals through luck!!!

Anywaz I ain't not interested to argue with fools, people will not know the difference!

@Builtforakill
Actually I was trying to refer to the Highway to Hell guy, before his posts were deleted that is, but it's cool, I appreciate being called arrogant and ignorant.

The only thing I ever said about you is that your list of ECs were a bit off seed. But it now seems to you that I am supposedly jealous of your achievements.

I digested the first reply, seeing that it was my fault that I ever decided to come down harsh upon your brag sheet. But now, things have gone beyond that. Provocation does inspire animosity.

And as regards to animosity, you have deliberately provoked someone else who hasn’t perhaps even seen this thread. That’s some spirit Sweta. Go On! Fight till death.

And I sense some flaws…

Well I think u deserve a college as good as oberlin, may b even better!! just dont worry !!! ull get in somewhere gr8!!!!! and Even if they dont take u SWETAA...its their LOSS!! relax girl!!!
