Chance me SCEA!!!

I am an SCEA applicant, but I’m not sure how good my chances ACTUALLY are of getting in. I plan to apply by forwarding my Questbridge application to be considered for SCEA, because they get to see more essays. It would be a great help if you could give any comments

(Took the highest amount of AP classes possible. My school does not allow student to take AP classes until junior year. Unless you count AP US History sophomore year, but that was only the first part of AP US History. I took APUSH 1 sophomore year and APUSH 2 Junior year.)

Quest bridge essay: I talk about coming to term with my status as an undocumented immigrant, how DACA gave me hope after I thought I was’t going to go to college, and how my status inspired my passion for law and politics. My english teacher, a Yale graduate, loved my essay and made suggestions.
Second essay: Wrote about how veganism helped me escape health problem that run in my family. Also mention how I discovered that people were ignorant of the connection between their food and living beings. Closed it off by talking about how this allowed me to appreciate the life around me.
Recomendations:

I’d say you are pretty competitive but with Yale you never know for sure. I wish you the best!

Stats are obviously very competitive, URM and lower SES status will be pluses. It will come down to the subjectives, essays, LoR’s and how EC’s are portrayed and tied in to total app.

@BKSquared I was just wondering why you said lower SES would be a plus. How would admissions officers know of your low SES?

By the zipcode of your home residence and the AO’s information on your high school if you do not directly allude to economic challenges in any of your essays (or possibly references to your family situation in the LoR’s). Your test scores, course rigor and type of EC’s would be viewed in the context of someone who might not have the advantages of a person from a wealthier family.

Sorry bud but I really don’t see any scenario in which you get admitted. :slight_smile:
