I’m applying to Engineering, computer science, and informatics majors

Unfortunately mostly reaches. ORM with relatively mediocre grades and test scores applying for Engineering means likely rejected at Rice and Michigan. Rice likes test scores and your standardized scores are too low. UMich Engineering is GPA focused and a ~3.6 UW won’t cut it.

Case might be a target but it will be a reach. Same with USC. I might consider RPI or WPI with your stats.

Case is very competitive in the RD round. 1380 and a downward trend in GPA could be a challenge. Case defer a large # of applicants this year and many are with 1500+ SAT. In the RD round of case, the biggest proportion will goes to the waitlist pile. Case sent 40% of its applicants onto the waitlist pile last year. I expect similar % this year. Case is notorious with waitlisting and defer. I think USC/Rice/UM are extremely unlikely with the stats. Case will be a better chance for you if you are willing to commit thru EDII. WPI will be higher odds. RPI is right at the edge. I know couple of kids got the defer with 1380-1430 SAT and higher GPA (3.7 ish) but being a female applicant will help in RPI though.

Thank you for the replies! I was actually considering applying to RPI because I was getting a lot of mail from them and a friend of mine recommended it to me. Also, these schools are all my reaches, some much greater reaches than others. If I do end up getting rejected from all these schools (and the University of Washington), I plan on attending community college and transferring to the UW. Also, do you guys recommend I apply to a different major than computer science? I am a bit undecided if I will want to pursue that in college and I don’t want my uncertainty to decrease my chances of getting in. For example, in my UW application, I applied direct to Informatics because I’m a bit more interested in that and because directly admitting to CS at UW is extremely difficult.
