Great counselor rec (she's head of guidance, a great writer), 3 teacher recs (1 outstanding, 2 great)

Other hooks: Both grandparents attended, grandpa played football, both active alums. I don't know how much this counts, though.

I'd appreciate any thoughts/input!

you're a match..

Very good chance.

I'd say very likely in.

But one of the girls in my graduating class last year, exceptional, applied late in January and got rejected.

She got into Penn, Stern, G-town.

Had you applied before December 1st, I would have said a safe match. At this stage, I would say a solid match.

thanks so much for your input guys. i'm still nervous!

i visited twice - once two summers ago for an interview with the head of the musical theatre department.. it went really well, but i've since then decided that I want to go liberal arts rather than conservatory.

Last summer, I met with the head of the Residential College, which was awesome - one of the main reasons I'm applying. Then I met with the head of the honors college. If I mention this in my application, do you think it'll show interest/help?

No ACT?

Sad to say... Michigan is a state of the ACT...

I didn't take the ACT (I'm OOS, too) and I still got in.

i think ur in

"No ACT?

Sad to say... Michigan is a state of the ACT..."

I'm going to have to disagree.

I don't think the ACT thing would be a problem. Mich claims to put equal weight on both tests, and be preference-free.

I tried the ACT, and didn't like it... definitely not the test for me. Too much about time and spitting back information in graphs, whereas the SAT was more logic-based which I liked. Just my opinion. I chose not to report my score (which was comparably awful to my SAT!) so that means they'll never see it.

Your extracurriculars are strong, and not applying for financial aid will probably give you a boost if you need it.

Michigan does not have a preference for standardized tests. The SAT is an exact and equal substitute for the ACT.
