HOWEVER:

White
Boring
Ranked 62/399 (well…since it’s over a 4.0 and weighted they call it 1/399, but they LIE.)
…by which I mean my scores and whatnot are pretty unremarkable given what my school is like.

I think you have a great chance! Good Luck! Your SAT's are great, and your gpa is amazing! Hope you get in! p.s. (boring cannot categorize a person, and you do have hooks; your a smart and intelligent young women! work that gurl!) & not everyone can be a flute section leader (lol) I know damn well I can't!

On college board there's this really neat thing at the bottom where you can see how you stack up, I put in your stats just to help; according to your gpa your in the 27th percentile of admitted students, in terms of class rank your in the 90th percentile, the highest on the middle 50 % of students admitted into Barnard in critical reading was 740, which you got a 760, the highest on the middle 50 % in Math was a 700, which you definetly did better, and the writing you in between the middle 50 % which consisted of a range from 650-750 (which to me is very good!) Keep in mind, there are always 25 % of students who score lower then the lowest range, and 25% who score higher then the highest range (if that makes sense). Their ACT average is between a 28-31 which is the middle 50 %. In terms of critical reading according to College board your in the 50th percentile, and in terms of your ACT score your in the 56th percentile of students at Barnard. If that doesn't prove anything, I think your good! Where else are you applying? You have set a good competitive slant for yourself. Congrats on four years of hard work!

phew Okay, good. (But isn't everyone applying to Barnard a "smart and intellegent young woman"? fretfret) I was getting a little freaked because so many of the other people applying to these colleges are AMAZING.

Ooo, ooo, do you play the flute too? ^^

The list of colleges I'm applying to (yes, there are 9...): University of Alabama, Tulane, Boston U., Wellesley, Bryn Mawr, Swarthmore, Williams, Yale, and (of course) Barnard. I really (reallyreallyreally) don't want to go to UA, and Tulane (infamous for it's parties and spectacular apathy) doesn't really appeal to me either, so those two are my back ups. Yale is my number one, but...tch (yeah, right). Of the others, frankly, I'd be happy getting in to any of them.

And wow, you're amazing. (Even if you had pulled those out of your ass I would have taken them, just to make myself feel better. XD) I really never realized that college board had anything like that, thanks!

I'm not going to say anything about your chances except that you applied, which means that you know there's a chance Barnard will accept you. I know that might sound off, but I think you'd get what I mean. The application is done, and you can't do anything about it.

There's nothing you can do but wait, sadly.

I know my reply is a bit wishy-washy, but none of us can really determine chances because we're not adcoms.

Best of luck to you :) And I suggest taking up a second semester senior sport. My "sport" of choice is Frisbee (if you get what I'm saying).

yeaa your welcome. when your waiting for these colleges to get back, you get bored (lol)! but yea, that does make sense, we're all smart & intelligent just for applying!! (lol) & No I attempted to play the flute (didn't work (lol), I play the drums & piano ( I know extremely different; I love trying different things) I'm applying to 10! so 9 isn't that bad. I started out with 6 and then 6 turned to 7 and 7 magically turned to 10 (lol) & maybe turning to 11 because i already sent my application for Brown.

The others are Barnard (absolutely love!), Amherst college, BC, BU, Northeastern (soo expensive but we'll see), UMASS Amherst (Got in! but last choice), Emmanuel College, Bryn Mawr College, College of the Holy Cross, & Brown University (absolutely no chance in hell getting in but it's gorgeous; i have a thing for gorgeous campuses I mean I may end up living there for 4 years y not let it be gorgeous!)

Firefly, as superwoman pointed out, your stats put you solidly in line to be qualified for admission to Barnard. What none of us know is how you portrayed yourself in your essays and whether you conveyed to those reading them that you really wanted to be there.

Best to you...looks like you have a great shot at being at a fantastic school! And this is from a former member of the Million Dollar Band :)

etched: I know that no one here can really say, but it would be just like me to start hoping to get in to a college just to learn that I'd overreached. I can be an idiot like that sometimes, and I just wanted to make sure I wasn't in completely over my head. ^^

superwoman: Wow, there's like a one-third-ish chance that we might end up at the same college, so nice to meet you! XD

churchmusicmom: Em...oops. O.o Actually, the band is the reason I applied there over Auburn :) . The thing is, almost everyone from my high school ends up there, and so it would just be like starting high school all over again. No offense to the school, but I'd really rather get out. XD

As superwoman pointed out, your stats seem perfectly in line with that of most of the girls at Barnard. More importantly, however, is that from what I've gleaned from your few lines of posting is that you're an intelligent person and can communicate this easily on paper. The two combined give you a very solid shot at acceptance. :) Your personality has leaked through on just this message board---I have no doubt it did in your essays, and with hope Barnard will see you fit in. Best of luck! (BTW, I'm currently on a gap year, but will be a first year this fall. Hope to see you there! ;) )
