Hi,
I am a female at a very competitive private Catholic high school in California. I have a 3.8 GPA and a 1920 SAT score. Plenty of extra curricular activities, most of which are community service or immersion trips. 3 fours on AP tests, good recommendations, strong essays, and my mother is a legacy for SI Newhouse School at Syracuse. Chance me for Syracuse & Newhouse School?
Thank you!

You’re a match for Syracuse. I’m sorry, I don’t know anything about Newhouse School. Good luck!

You are well above the standards for Syracuse. I recommend shooting for somewhere higher and still keeping Syracuse on your list of schools to apply to. Here is a link to its GPA / SAT Graph [Syracuse University - GPA and Test Scores Needed for Admission for Syracuse University](Syracuse University: Acceptance Rate, SAT/ACT Scores, GPA)

Newhouse School will be much harder for you to get Into. Here is a quote from their website
“Newhouse now receives approximately 4,000 applications for a first-year class of 350. The typical admitted student is in the top 5 to 10 percent of his or her high school class, with a 3.9 GPA and an SAT score in the 1300s. On the graduate level, the school receives 800 applications each year for 225 spots in the 10 professional master’s programs. The average GPA of admitted students is 3.4, though it varies by program.”

Syracuse regular: Low match
Syracuse Newhouse: Match/high match

I don’t agree. The fact that Syracuse will be easy for OP to get into, means that she has a good chance of receiving more scholarships.

Low Match
You shouldn’t have a problem getting in.
