As a test optional school Pitzer will be looking at the rigor of your course load and the grades you got. I would need to see your UW GPA, in order to chance you, because that is what Pitzer will be using.

@uclahopefull my school does not do UW GPA but it wouldnt be much different than my weighted one since its only on AP classes. For rigor of courses, I take all AP, honors and gifted classes.

Then you should be fine, but Pitzer has one of the lowest acceptance rates in the nation so no guarantees

If you really love Pitzer, you should apply! Don’t let yourself get discouraged and not apply. You seem to have taken a a lot of challenging classes (8 AP’s), you have leadership positions, and interesting extracurriculars. I think you have a good shot at getting admitted!

Hello! Back on CC after realizing a year ago, today, I received my Pitzer acceptance letter. Just wanted to calm some of the prospie’s nerves and give them a little insight. First, at the Claremont Colleges, each school has a different persona. Since they accept so few students, you belong there. As such, CMC and Pitzer have very different personas. After being here a semester, and talking to peers about which schools they applied to, where they come from, and their stats, it is clear that Pitzer accepts a certain “type” of person. Now, this isn’t to say your qualifications are invalid, but Pitzer does observe very holistically. (But, your academic achievements seem to be up to par with Pitzer students). I see you have some involvement in social justice. If this is something you are truly passionate about, you should highlight it in your essays and show how you relate to Pitzer’s core values. I believe my extracurriculars relating to the core values, and how I specifically highlighted those in my essays, are what got me in. So, spend some time on your essays and you should have a good shot! Best of luck!

@typicalfoodie Thank you! I’m actually doubting I should apply to Pitzer. Although I think I would fit in best at Pitzer with the students, I don’t think I’m as passionate as other students who deserve admission. I’m applying to 3 other Claremont schools through Quest Bridge which would guarantee an almost full tuition package. Also, I think my choice of major would be best suited at CMC. But thank you for your advice!
