<p>I am a student at WA state, and I badly want to get out of this state. I am applying to some challanging colleges, but I think they are mostly high reaches for me :( My ECs, I think, are just too basic</p>

<p>I really don't think your EC's are that bad, I mean, 700+ hours of community service shows HUGE commitment.</p>

<p>I might be tempted to say it would be difficult to hold many EC's with that much community service...</p>

<p>I'd really suggest tying all that work into your essays, especially if all that work was done for something you are passionate about.</p>

<p>I didn't know how to weight my GPA. If honors classes bump up my GPA, it should be higher. around 4.4, 4.5?</p>

<p>Nothing wrong with applying to all those superselective colleges if you are happy with your safeties. Your profile is very good.</p>

<p>Yale, Cal Tech and Cal will be a little tough but you're certainly in range. i could def. see you in at the rest though. </p>

<p>You can Defs get into UC Berkely, Brown, and Hopkins and most of the Ivy's. I have a cousin whos GPA was a little higher than yours but with SAT's much lower and she got into UPenn no problem. So I think you have a pretty good shot at all of the schools you want</p>
