Chance Me: University of Michigan, Georgetown, George Washington, NYU...etc (please!!!)

Although most people here dread reading these this time of year and do not see their purpose, I value the feedback and advice. So without further or do…

Gender: Female
Ethnicity: Middle Eastern
Residence: OH
GPA: 3.93/4 cum 4.35 weighted
Ranked 11/560 --> top 2% of graduating class
ACT composite: 30 (34 English, 28 Math, 29 Science, 28 reading, 31 writing and English)
SAT Subject Tests: Projecting around 750 for both US History and Bio M

Extracurriculars:

I think what may set me apart is the fact that I conducted research at a very credible University near my home and that I can receive a letter of recommendation from the Professor I worked under
-Varsity Co-Captian of Tennis
-Research
-NHS
-Professionals of Tomorrow Executive Director
-President of Debate
-HUDDLE and LINK crew (I think these may be exclusive to my school)
-Volunteering Kiwanis Key Club Committee Chair
-Volunteering at local religious center
-Diversity club activities director

I believe that my common application story is very compelling, perhaps will save my sub-par ACT score, who knows!

Essentially, I would like honest feedback on the following schools and how I match up:

The University of Michigan (Dream school – Early Action), Case Western Reserve University (Early Action)
Regular Admissions: Georgetown, George Washington, NYU, Barnard, Bucknell, and perhaps UCLA (i am on the fence of applying because I won’t be visiting).
I also have a few safety schools, so no, I am not insane for all these possible reaches

Thank you!!!

oh… and I want to be a Biology major with an interest in pre-med

No to Michigan, Georgetown and UCLA.
GW, CW, NYU and Bucknell are possible but not sure things. Barnard probably not.

I believe all of those schools you could potentially get into, except for maybe Georgetown and UCLA. Otherwise, I think you’re a really good candidate for these schools.

Where is your home state and are you applying to LSA at UMich? Your ACT scoe is at the 25th percentile that it is likely a reach for you.

If you haven’t already gotten your decision, I would NOT rule out Georgetown. Georgetown is a great school that is extremely holistic. A very good friend of mine (#1 in her (small) class, 4.0 GPA, from Hungary, but a 26 ACT) got a FULL RIDE to Georgetown two years ago. They obviously considered factors other than just her test scores and GPA, so I would encourage you to present the best possible application.

I applied to several of the colleges on your list with nearly the same specs (ACT and GPA) several years ago and I got accepted to CWRU and got rejected by NYU UCLA (All RD). Use this as your point of reference. Good Luck.
