Chance Me!! University of Richmond, Tualane, Boston U....

Hi everyone, I have recently received my new ACT score and I think I am much more competitive at the schools I am applying to now.
My Gpa weighted is a 3.90 (unweighted 3.59), but I have greatly improved as a student from freshman to junior year.
My complete schedule is:
Middle school: Algebra 1, French I and French II
Freshman: English honors, Introduction to business and marketing, P.E.,French III, Pre A.P. world history (basically honors), Geometry, Earth science honors. (freshman and middle school GPA: 3.63)
Sophomore:P.E., English honors, French IV, Chemistry, Algebra II, A.P. World history, Honors Biology (4.03 GPA)
Junior: Academic U.S. History, Honors English, A.P. Chemistry, A.P. Biology, Pre-calculus, A.P. Economics, French V (4.24 GPA)
Senior Year schedule (Will start this fall): A.P. Human Geography, A.P. Government, Philosophy/International relations, academic English, Physics, A.P. Calculus, A.P. French. (halfway through the first quarter I have an A or A+ in every class)
My current ACT scores are:
English: 29
Math:30
Science: 32
Reading: 33
Essay: ? (score from my last test was a 9)
Composite: 31
My extracurricular's are solid. I have spent a large amount of time shadowing doctors at the hospital, which I believe to be my most unique activity.
I am getting my letters of rec from my A.P. Econ/A.P world history teacher, GC and the supervisor at the hospital I volunteered at.
Class rank: top quarter

Thanks in advance! If you want me to chance back leave a link in the comments

Match at all schools except for UVA, where I’d say you’re a low reach out of state. I see no issue at all of you being accepted to every school on your list. Your ACT is solid and so are your grades.

JMU I’d say is safety. Tech is a match- UVA is a reach.

the two people above assumed you were out-of-state, but it looks like since you’re looking and UofR and JMU, you’re probably in-state (VA). UVA acceptance rate in state is around 41%, in which case UVA is a match

@MijoChbulkan‌ I assumed nothing. UVA is a reach regardless of where he’s from- that GPA is too low for it to be a match. I know, because 3/4 of my high school applied to UVA and both my parents went there.

^^ I agree with guineagirl’s assesment

@guineagirl96 @mijochbulkan @allaroundUVA605 Yes, I live in VA.
Regarding UVA, do you guys think it would be worth it for me to take SAT II subject tests? Right now, I personally think I have about a 30% chance of being accepted, and a large chance of landing on the wait list. Could a strong score on SAT II tests advance mt chances even more?

Sorry to anyone who noticed the misspelling of “Tulane” in the tittle

@Andyhunt10‌ @guineagirl96‌ Sorry, I guess it depends where you go to school because my school (VA, private) is a straight shoot into UVA around 30 people out of around 50 applying get in. The people at my school aren’t that special. Yes, the GPA is low but her Junior GPA was 4.24 unweighted. If she kept it up senior year and maybe took the ACT again, she’d have about 50% chance of acceptance.

@MijoChbulkan‌ it has more to do with GPA than school. My high school usually has half the class get in and a quarter attend, this past year, however, they only accepted something like 75 people, so about a quarter of the class went to william and mary. 30/50 is still a 60% acceptance rate- i would not call that a straight shot. And your school probably falls victim to self selecting, as did my HS. People who know they won’t get in or don’t have a great shot don’t bother applying. It skews the data.

@Andyhunt10‌ I am unfamiliar with UVAs exact SAT2 policy (i didn’t apply because I knew I had no shot, you had to basically have at least a 4.1 weighted to be considered from my hs), but since they are a very score/GPA driven school, it can only help.

EDIT: just looked up the stats from my hs for UVA: 64% acceptance rate, average accepted GPA was a 4.33, sat 2250, ACT 33

@guineagirl96‌ My school has a lot of legacies. Richmond people tend to come back to Richmond.

@Andyhunt10‌ @guineagirl96‌ You know what, I’m starting to side with guineagirl in that your stats may be a little too low, and you should call it a reach.

Yeah, I selected UVA as my reach over Wake Forest, and while I know it’s unlikely i’ll get in, I’m still gonna try as hard as I can! @mijochbulkan @guineagirl96
