Hey everyone,
My senior year of high school is coming up and i'm starting some of my applications. I'm starting to get pretty stressed out and I'm curious to hear what some of your opinions are. My current GPA unweighted is a 3.43 and my SAT score was 1830. I go to competitive public high school. My ECs are strong and I have taken challenging classes. I understand that a 3.4 GPA isn't incredibly impressive but during my freshman year I finished with a 2.9. However, I finished my junior year with a 3.92. Some of the schools that I am applying to are : U of Wisconsin. U-Michigan, U-Maryland(cp), and Indiana University. Thanks

Get that SAT up to 2000+ and you’ll be in better business.

Anyone else?

bump…

Are you in-state to any?

No. I’m from MA

What is Math and CR score? I know UMD doesn’t look at writing, for one.

Math and CR were 600. I did really well on the writing but in most cases the writing doesn’t matter…

Reach for UMich and WISC.

I would definitely consider an in-state school unless you and your family are financially sound. I got into Rutgers University and it was my dream school but because of financial reasons, I am unlikely to attend there this year. Now I am rushing to apply to in-state schools that will obviously give me a break financially. I was looking at all of those schools. The schools you mention are all now Big 10 schools(Maryland just moved in). Big 10 schools have been known for notoriously high out-of-state tuition and fees. Don’t put these schools away, but definitely don’t just have these schools to fall back on either. Check out UMASS-Amherst and private schools that are more likely to offer you more scholarships based on your GPA and SAT scores. Have a solid backup plan first and you will be fine.

UWI: Reach
UMD: High match
IU: Low match/Match

Can you afford an UC? These are schools where freshman year in high school doesn’t count.
