Chance me! Upcoming Junior, want to know how I'm doing so far?

I just finished sophomore year .

Weighted GPA: 4.56 GPA. I’ve seen my GPA go up from 4.48 from freshman year, which i think is good since it’s an upward trend.

My unweighted GPA is 4.0

As a sophomore and freshman, I took somewhat challenging courses, but only honors and two AP classes. For junior year, I plan on taking five AP classes, specifically AP language composition, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Euro, and AP calc AB.

For volunteer service, I did not do too much freshman year, just some here and there. For sophomore year, I’ve gotten 70+ hours volunteering at a summer camp for children with disabilities (which I love to do!). I want to go towards a premed/biology major and volunteering there just sort of clicked with me!

My extracurricular: Varsity tennis (1 year junior varsity, 1 year varsity), Key Club (2 yrs) , National Honors Society (1 yr), Medical Interests Club (1 year, Founder, President), Tutoring Club (1 year, elected president for junior yr), Science Olympiad (Competitor + manager 1 yr), Newspaper Editor (1 yr), Link Crew Leader (for Junior Yr, helps get upcoming freshmen get acquainted with our high school)

I took the SATs in June, planning to find out my score in a couple of days (AH nervous!)

Please Chance me! How do things look so far? Honestly, I love all the extracurriculars and volunteering activities I do, it has a great group of people!

Oh sorry, I should be more specific. I’m new to this, clearly. I want to know my chances for colleges such as UPenn, Cornell, and Duke.

No one can tell you your odds without an SAT/ACT scores. Come back when you get those results. Just looking at your ec’s though, they look pretty spread out and not very focused for some of these schools.

PSAT and AP scores?

While your ECs seem decent, there is nothing that makes you stand out.

@danfer91 thank you for the advice!! Yes, I agree about my extracurriculars. I think I will leave behind key club and tennis, because I recently got a knee injury and for key club, I did not participate much. How do I stand out for extracurriculars? I mean, I love to do most of these things??

@RoundGenius Hi, I got 5s on both the AP Gov and AP Human geography exams, but I didn’t care for these scores too much as I am interesting in premed. I got 1350 out of 1520 on the PSAT 10

While a 1350 is certainly a good PSAT score, it isn’t indicative of you having qualifying SAT or ACT scores for the schools you mentioned. However, its a good starting point and if you study, I guarantee you will have a competitive score. Also, find one or two ECs to focus on. Top schools loving well rounded individuals is a bit of a myth.
