Chance me UPenn & Villanova

1st to attend University- Major Biology
UC GPA 3.92 graduating with an overall GPA of 3.96. Mediocre test scores 24 ACT (28 English 25 Math) & a 1650 SAT taken in the 11th grade. Could not afford to retake them. Also, suffer texting anxiety ELC candidate but I know they don’t care about that. Spanish I II & III awards-Straight A’s except for 3 B’s my entire high school career. Physics & Govt Awards and Math. Test scores are extremely low I know.

Attend a very small charter school, partially home schooled. No AP or IB programs available. Was lucky to just have a-g classes. Completed Spanish III in the 11th grade. Currently taking Physics, UC Scout Statistics course online. Leadership for 3 years. Lead actor in play.
Creator of science bowl team. Ten member crew who competed for recognition from Sandia Labs.
Good EC’s (I think)- Internship for an Assemblywoman, lector at church, teaching baseball to disabled children, fundraising events for breast cancer patients, volunteered at the library.

Accepted to Purdue and CSUMB- Denied UCSD, Cal Poly SLO, SDSU
Waiting on UCSB, UCSC, UCB (long reach but they requested LOR’s)
I am a Native American-Hispanic, male, also LGBT. LOR’s from counselors and two teachers about my academics and leadership and a LOR from the Assemblywoman.

I know it’s a long shot. I think my essay for UPenn was decent. Not sure about Villanova.

I applied to both as well. However, I’m a business major so it may be a little bit easier for you to get in. I think you definitely have a shot at Villanova. Penn may be a long shot, but anything can happen. I have a 99.9 weighted GPA and a 1320 on the SAT. I’m not sure about either for me, I’m anxiously waiting.

Sorry but no chance on UPenn. 24 ACT is far below 25th percentile. No access to AP/IB will not be held against you as long as you took as many classes as you could, and your GPA is fine. ECs are okay as well. Being URM will help, but no way it can make up for the rest of the app as there is nothing outstanding

UPenn seems next to impossible. ACT score is too low.

It’s definitely a loooong shot. Like winning the lotto  It’s ok, I was accepted to UCSC and plan to stay in state since I can graduate debt free if I stay in CA with my dad’s Cal Vet status. Thanks for the input.

you seen like a good candidate for UPenn. Villanova may be a tossup. Congrats on your acceptances and good luck!
