Specifically looking at UToronto/McGill (Yes I know they care little about EC's but wondering if I could use them to solidify acceptance of wait list)
If there are any other good schools for WallStreet/Consulting, please let me know. Thanks!

I’m a US student so I will not get my IB HL scores(ones I take senior year) until August when I should already be in college, so how does that work? All I can use to apply are Econ/Spanish

RChandler, why do you think GPA counts less at a Canadian school than inside the US? I have not heard that, but it would be good news, frankly, if true. Totally agree that EC’s are next to meaningless (unless, of course, you did an internship with the IMF or something!) In the end, what do you think is the hottest criteria for admission decision at McGill in particular? Also, same predicament here – with grades coming in so late, do they go to McGill as supplements, or do they not even see them?

Relatively less. Canadian/UK schools are more weighted to standardized test scores(where I excel). They do care significantly about GPA, but not as significantly as US Schools.

Shulich school of business is the best school in Canada, and ranked highly in the world. My friend got in with about a 90-93% avg, which is a 4.0 GPA, which is 85% and above btw, so ur chances are low. However, idk how they would look at ur SATs\ACTs, so that could increase ur chances. Shulich also looks at ECs, so since u started that investment thing, it may look good. ONE more thing, for us canadians, they only look at our top 6 grades in grade 12, idk what its like for US kids, but if anything get a 4.0GPA in senior year

Good Good FANTASTIC! Love the cousres and since your a soph, if you think you need to push harder, there’s stilll time for this,so work hard, but your grades are fantastic and I like ur ECs. Don’t count out US Universities, bcuz they’d love you bcuz of your academic and Ec record so far. Just out of curiosity, do you compete in anything?

Good luck! Yopu’lll do great!
:):):):):D:):):):)

Do you mean sports? I played Ice Hockey until 8th grade. However, I fractured both bones in my arm(it was bad, bones moved a lot) and was never cleared to play again :(

In Canada, most schools only look at your top 6 scores in grade 12 (English and Math are automatically counted in). Mcgill doesn’t care about extracurriculars, and most Canadian schools don’t even care about APs (you may not even get credit for them). As long as you have a 36+ in IB, you are virtually a match for almost all Canadian schools. Plus, you are an international student who will have to pay extra $$$.

My dads a VP at a Private Equity firm so moneys not a problem. His firm also recruits like 1 or 2 from some Canadian schools(mostly grads), will this help?

I am a Canadian, some of the things said here are accurate, others are mainly stereotypes and false. Canadian universities care far more about GPA and grades than your standardized test scores. Also, IB scores are not received until July or August of senior year, so they only look at your mark in the class, not on the exam. However, Canadian schools typically are very easy to gain entrance to, it’s staying in that’s hard.

Also, although I said test scores don’t matter much as long as you meet a certain cutoff( I think 28ACT and around 1900 SAT at Mcgill), if you do really well then they become valuable to your application profile. If you can get your GPA to 3.7 or 3.75+ you will be guaranteed for almost every Canadian University since you have a 34 on ACT to make up for a slightly lower GPA.
