I am also applying to Northeastern (My college choices mainly have to do with rowing), and was wondering if someone could give me my chances for there too

A pretty unique combination for a dual-major.

UVA: High match
NEU: Safety

hoping for some more feedback, so uhhhh, bump?

Could I get a second opinion? Maybe anything I can work on to improve my chances?

I feel bad continually bumping myself, but I am really hoping for more detailed analysis / more information. Last time, I promise

I think you have a very good chance. Good Luck!

Thanks! I submitted my apps today, so fingers crossed

Based on your test scores, GPA, and extracurriculars, I’d say you’re in! UVA accepts very few out-of-state students, though. I think that will be the biggest thing that would keep you out, but your chances seem pretty darn good to me. :)

@defhrhorses I am planning on applying to UVA as well…but what is the % of accepting out of state students?

@theasiansadness I found some acceptance stats from the last couple of years, and it looks like the out of state acceptance rate is around 26% as opposed to roughly 45% for in state.

Looking at this you have a pretty good shot. You should have a well written essay to boost your chances

yes yes yes yes! It looks like a good shot to me!

Maybe I was a bit hard on you because of the OOS factor (high match), but, if you were in-state you would have been a low match.

Not true.

Over one-thousand out-of-state freshmen enter U-Va every year.

@GolfFather in general something closer to 4000, but yes, UVA accepts quite a few out-of-state students. However, the percentage of OOS students that are accepted is much lower than that of in-state

^^^^

How can it possibly be 4,000 out of state freshmen each class year?
There are only 3,400 total incoming freshmen:

[Common Data Set: Institutional Assessment and Studies, University of Virginia](http://avillage.web.virginia.edu/iaas/cds/enrollment.shtm)

Well, I don’t know about “much lower.”
The ratio is currently set at 70-30.
That means almost one third of all U-Va students are out of state.
That seems pretty darn high to me.
Of course, YMMV.

There is a difference between acceptances and enrolled freshman. In 2011 the admissions office accepted nearly 8,000 people. 3,562 went to Virginians and 4,183 went to out-of-state students.

Also, when I said “However, the percentage of OOS students that are accepted is much lower than that of in-state” I also did not mean the number of enrolled students. I was discussing the rate at which people who apply get accepted. 26% of OOS students that apply are accepted, as opposed to 45% of instate students.

Obviously yield for OOS is much, much lower…
