High five possible future classmate! (I’m applying ED as well. I finally convinced my parents to sign the agreement this week.)

I’d say you have a good shot but it’s not guaranteed.

Your SAT’s are average for HMC (maybe a little above?), but your GPA is a little low, though a lot of people with lower GPA’s get in. Coming from a competitive school should help. (I’m in almost the same situation, with a 3.77 with a strong upward trend coming from an insanely competitive magnet-ish school.)

Your EC’s are pretty good and very diverse, though how good they look comes down to how involved in robotics you were, how good your team was, and how well you can sell your internship/what you actually did.

Oh, also, is your 4.16 UC GPA capped at 8 semesters of honors credit, or does that include all of your honors, like Berkeley and UCLA calculate it?

i’d say 50/50, but you have a better shot than that because of ED. what does it mean to be 6th or 12th at nationals for something? how many people were you competing against? sounds impressive, but you should make it stand out in terms of competitor pool size (of course, only if mentioning competitor pool size will make you look good)

NorthSouth competitions are against thousands of kids across the country (indirectly). Students compete at a regional competition, then advance to a national finals event somewhere (this year it was at University of Michigan), after you compete there, you’re given a rank.

I think you’re qualified (assuming you took SAT II Math and some science SAT II). The personal side would matter now, and if you present yourself well --highlighting an interest/experience such as an EC or internship–you will have a good chance.

Personal side will be all after you’ve met the scores. I’d focus on the music and robotics. If you go to visit Mudd, make sure to talk to some of the CS profs (Dodds is the one who does robot stuff).

You might want to check their website, though. I have 4 subject tests, so I was never super careful about checking whether they fit requirements (or even fit on my common app ).

You should double check, but my recollection is that Mudd requires two SAT subject tests. One is the Math Level 2 and the other is whatever the applicant chooses.

You do, indeed, need two SAT subject test. One must be math 2. You could probably blast through physics as well. I recommend visiting if at all possible - partly because Mudd is a very particular sort of place.
