Writing is an easy section to improve on get the barrons writing book and get in the 700s for writing aswell.

Well I’m already a senior, and the ED deadline is in a few weeks.
I might as well be done with SAT.

Technically I can retake SAT again for RD schools, but I’m not doing it.

In reply to your question, I’d say you have a chance at all of those schools-- though, like everyone, your chances decrease with the selectivity of the school. Your best chances are probably BC or University of Washington, though I can’t pretend to know too much about either.

But honestly, a list of your stats doesn’t say much. I know people who haven’t had amazing stats, but wrote essays that really demonstrated their passion for what they did in high school-- and conversely people who had stellar academics but stark, bland essays. Math club for four years? Write about why you wanted to become vice president. Columnist? Write about why you’re passionate about the economy and individual rights.

The college admissions process is inherently flawed. There’s no formula that will tell you your chances. Make the most of your essays and show those colleges your voice.

btw, a 2260 isn’t bad at all; don’t worry about your SAT scores even if you could retake it.

Might look at Holy Cross and Tufts both very good schools in Massachusetts. Holy Cross(don’t have to be religious) is similar to Boston College.

caffeine: thank you for your advice. I’ll take another look at essays to make sure they express my own voice

I would really say your good for most of those schools aside of MIT. your ECs seem pretty weak, but your stats are remarkable. I find it funny that you got a higher Verbal than I and you’ve spoken English half the time I have =) That’s very impressive to me, so make sure you emphasize that in an essay and connect it to your willingness and ability to quickly adjust and learn.

MIT really requires amazing essays (even though it’s a math/science school) and likes to see some stalwart ECs. Yours are great, but not at the level of some MIT undergrad student that I know.

Other than that you sound like a fantastic student that shouldn’t have trouble going anywhere. Good luck!
