I had a stellar essay about how the practice of karate developed my discipline, and for my why cornell essay, i talked a lot about researching etc. and my interest in engineering.

oh god i hope i get in, i already feel the pressure lol...and its not happening til march!!!! plus my gf will hate me -_-

The thing about these chance threads is: there's absolutely no point. It all comes down to the essay you write. Omit some of those EC's to make yourself look more focused, write a killer essay and you're in. Don't assume your high SAT scores will get you in... they really don't really matter (for CALS at least, but I see you're applying to engineering). I got in never scoring a single 700 or above in any section. Also, don't apply just for a girl; high school relationships never last.

true^ according to the somewhat random sat scores of accepted ED people...essay is weighed a ton..

HEY YOU. cornellhopeful12. dont diss and stereotype. i hate people like you. besides cornell is a fantastic school. you cant go wrong by doing engineering there!

and yes essays mattered a LOT =]

^Dude, he's not stereotyping at all. But yeah you seem good, though its gonna be really competitive this year and admissions looks totally screwed up just look at the ED thread.

I think we're all a little dazed right now. No one really knows what to expect, so the chance threads are getting harder and harder to chance. Just write great essays, get great recs, and keep your grades up and you'll be fine ^_^.

Oh and cornellhopeful really wasn't trying to sterotype. Just giving his advice ;)

I don't see where I stereotyped lol. Accidentally had two "really"s in the same sentence, but other than that I don't see what's wrong with my post.

Probably this statement:
"Also, don't apply just for a girl; high school relationships never last."

But I'm pretty sure you really didn't mean much by it.

I didn't lol.

well i wasn't planning on applying at first, but she convinced me to visit it at least, and after overnighting there and visiting all the facilities i was actually really convinced that it was an amazing school.

If I wanted to seal the deal, throw some kind of academic/EC hail marry pass that u can show the adcoms. For instance, try to get a major related job/internship, or something. I know its late but thats my advice. Just do something to set yourself apart. Beyond that, chancing is officially garbage.
