****!!!! I want to get in so badddlyyyyy please chance meeeeeeeeeee

I'm a junior in high school trying to get into Cornell and I would just like to know your opinion of my chances. I am thinking of applying EARLY DECISION.

Standardized testing:
SAT: 2250
Math: 780
Reading: 720
Writing: 750
SAT Subject Tests: (Probably Retaking)
Math II: 700
Chemistry: 760

Academics:
A's range all the time. Nothing Below a 95. During my Junior Year I am enrolled in 4 AP classes:
Calculus BC
US History
English
Chemistry

I am easily in the top 10 of my grade. Next Year I will be taking 6 more AP classes.

Extra Cirriculars:
Math Team (going to be all 4 years next year): Varsity Captain
Indoor Track (going to be all 4 years next year): Varsity Captain
Outdoor Track (going to be all 4 years next year): Varsity Captain
Student Government/Student Council (going to be all 4 years next year): Treasurer
Member of National Honors Society and Spanish Society
I also have over 250 hours of community service, most from mentoring little children and dong stuff around my school.

I also did some international stuff like raise money for this mosque back in my home country and I also started an organization there to keep up my project in my abscence (this was done over a summer). I also helped a hospital in this country and started a fundraiser program for that too.

Also I am from Sri Lanka so I think the minority thing will help.

I don't know if it helps but I also am multilingual and play guitar.

I also did a few clubs throughout the years but the ones above are my main ones that I stuck with all four years.

Let me know my chances of getting in. Thanks.

If you really, really like Cornell, yeah, I’d say apply ED. My D had exact same SAT score, 790 Chem, 770 Math II, all As at very reputable private prep, 12 APs (all 5s), TONS of ECs/Awards including NM, natl recognized athlete, etc., etc. and was waitlisted. My point is you never know. Improve your odds… if you love the school and FA isn’t an issue, then apply ED. Good luck!

Thanks man! But FA as in financial aid? Why? Would applying early decision mean they give me less money. And also if I could ask… is Cornell in the top 10 ranked for engineering?

Cornell has the best undergrad engineering program in the Ivy League. They’re top ten in the nation as well. As far as you chances, I’d say that they’re excellent, especially if you apply ED. My profile was similar to yours, with slightly higher test scores but significantly less community service, and I got into CAS regular decision.

well by applying early decision, you’re committing to go there regardless of financial aid. so they could give you none and you would still have to go.

Really?? ughh… and is it really in the top of the nation!!
