I'm currently a first-year student in the UPR of Mayagüez in Puerto Rico. I want to transfer to Colgate. I have around a 3.5 or 3.6/4 GPA unweighted and I got a 1670 in my SAT's. In high school I had a 3.65/4 GPA unweighted, school newspaper reporter, soccer team, secretary of student council and my graduating senior class.
What are my chances? Also, do I have a chance at any scholarships?

You will not know unless you apply, of course, but your record may be viewed as about average for Colgate applicants. The fact that you are already a university student and from Puerto Rico will be an advantage, I think, but your grades, etc. may not be quite as high as Colgate would like to see. I do think they will be interested in an application from someone from Puerto Rico as Colgate is always interested in having a variety of students. You would want to emphasize what makes you unique, your language skills (Spanish?), your travels, experiences, interests, accomplishments, and not only the fact that your are Puerto Rican but also a good student with many interests. Good luck.
