I was deferred ED and an alum interviewer who I’ve known for years is writing me a letter of rec.

Do you think I have a chance?

no. no chance. your scores are too low and someone should have told you that. stop kidding yourself

Scores aren’t everything, but its a high reach given the fact that your a sub-par generic app. The only way you have a shot is if you can separate yourself from the crowd distinctly.

Btw, Readerman’s been going into most threads of this type and telling people they have no chance. Ignore the ■■■■■■. Your scores are fine.

You asked. Not very high chance of getting in. Son was also deferred and eventually rejected. He had similar ECs, plus lots of national awards in science and debate, and scores were higher. Unless you are URM, legacy, come from an URstate, or first violin (or other outstanding talent) expect to be going elsewhere.

My advice? Don’t look for others to “chance” you. What happens will happen for the best. Just do the best you can, but do not strain yourself.

Also, readerman is a ■■■■■. I honestly think you have way too much going on. Are you really participating in all of those activities because you genuinely enjoy them, or are you just participating to attract colleges? That is something fundamental to think about.

I honestly enjoy all of them. I’m not one to just sit and home and do nothing after school, I really enjoy being busy and involved. I started most of my clubs because I came from a private school in another district and thats how I made most of my firends, and I just stuck with it

Okay. Just don’t turn the ECs into a laundry list. :-)

thanks  i appreciate it.

“graduating at 17”?

Why’s that significant? A lot of people with summer birthdays graduate at 17 and skipping a grade isn’t much of a hook either.

oh i know its not- alot of other people say it in theirs so I thought i may as well include it. i did skip a grade but i really didnt expect to it help me.
