Chance Me

Hi,

I am a current Junior in High School and wanted to evaluate my chances of being accepted into the University of Notre Dame.

Throughout my high school years, I have maintained a 4.0 grade point average. My ACT score is a 32, and am fairly active in community service.

As far as extra curriculars go, I am in many musical activities, such as jazz band and marching band. I was involved in tennis and show choir during my freshman and sophomore year, but I took a job at a telecommunications company that has required me to work during those time frames.

Any advice is appreciated!

Thanks

Take some AP classes if you can, that would certainly help out.

Oh, sorry I forgot to mention that. I am in AP US history right now. Next year I am taking AP English, advanced biology, AP statistics, and probably Calculus at a local college.

definitely load up on the community service, especially this summer if you can. and be sure to write really strong essays! i was told at an admissions event a few weeks ago that they could have filled the 2000 available spots with perfect GPA’s/perfect test scores a couple of times over. hence the importance of the community service!!!

Does anyone else have any more advice?

I’d try & take your ACT (try the SAT if you haven’t) to raise your score a bit (33 would be nice). Other than that just keep your grades up & your in a good position to be competitive.

I’ve seen a lot of 4.0, 32’s go different ways either denied, accepted or waitlisted. Good luck!

Just got the latest ACT and got a 35.

That’s solid, you don’t need to worry about that more then (unless for some reason you want to up your SAT or something. I don’t know if you didn’t mention it because you aren’t taking it or what.) Make sure you keep up your grades and especially focus on strengthening the non-numerical parts of your app–service, ECs, whatever you need to solidify. Since the common app essays pretty much don’t change, you can start working on that if you’d like. Good to get some good work in before school starts up again. (I need to do this too, btw. :P) Good luck! :]
