Im Senior next year:

Hispanic(Puerto Rican)

GPA(took the most rigorous course):

UW- about a 3.7 W-4.0 10/72 --> This achieved in the one of the known and toughest schools nationally and ND knows that.

Will be taking 5 AP's by the end of my school career, was going to take 8, but my school canceled them. 5 AP's is all that my school offered, sadly.

Standardized Test Scores:

SAT: EXTREMELY LOW: 1730 (did not study at all, just took to see how it is), planning to study hard for next test and expect a 1930+ which is around the average SAT for Hispanics in ND(two got accepted from my school with a 1900).

EC's:

Founder and President of a non-profit organization, who emphasizes in Community Service(Have appeared 2 times on national television and 2 times on the best known Newspapers here(front cover in one).
Will be the co-founder next year of a community service club in my school.

Summer Activities:

Will be attending ND Summer Scholars in Pre-Law(one of the toughest tracks to enter, with a full merit scholarship).

Hooks:

I created a movement here in P.R -> Alongside my group I have gained over $25,000 in school materials to be donated around P.R.
I worked alongside Ex-alumni of ND here at PR and gave soccer clinics to kids.
Will work on another movement to increase awareness for mistreatment of the elderly and will be visiting shelters to have a good time with them.
Already with work experience.
Great Recs.
Great Essays.
Shows Interest.
Hispanic (Not sure if a hook, I'm not sure how affirmative action works. I do know that ND likes and searches for diversity).

Please Chance me, ND is by far my first choice. But it seems I lack the SAT many people in the US have, I am off the roof compared to candidates here though.

made an error, it is around 3.8 GPA*(UW)

Hey! I’m also a student from PR! I got into ND, but will not be attending :frowning: Chose to go to UC Berkeley instead. Still a great school though, and definitely a good first choice!

I am not an expert on college admissions, so I can only offer my opinion. Based on everything you’ve told me, I think you’ve got an excellent shot at being accepted. Your extracurriculars and volunteer work is amazing, and shows great leadership skills.

GPA wise, you’re good. I myself had a 4.00 UW. My SAT score was a 2090 the first time and a 2010 the second time. I honestly don’t think you should worry about the scores that much if the rest of your application can back you up.

One thing you should look into is SAT Subject tests. I can’t remember if ND had them as mandatory requirements; I remember some of my universities required a language one. Even if ND doesn’t require them, they’re a good booster to your application, especially if they have to do with your intended major since it shows interest and proficiency in that subject. If you’re planning on taking a Math Subject test, most universities prefer the Math2 over the Math1.

Good luck, even though I’m sure you won’t need it!! If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message :)

Thanks man, it means a lot! I’m thinking of taking US history subject and Im not sure what other one, probably biology! Pero gracias mi hermano!

*hermana, haha! xD

Okay, that’s good! Good luck, once again! :)

mala mia  jaja

bump!!!

You look pretty good. Have you considered taking the ACT instead? You might find it a better match for you. Other than that, I think you have a very good chance.

I took the ACT, but I know I did awful! the only school that offers it here in PR doesn’t have air-conditioning…I didn’t know that. So me and my friends wore jeans and I was literally sweating…Summer in PR is hell haha. I couldn’t concentrate! I want people to be honest though. The Pres- of the ex-alumni here in PR is always rooting for me, and she wants me to go to ND, but I’m not sure how are my chances you know?

ND is also my first choice!
I came from Hong Kong as an immigrant and studied junior in US. I am going to be a Senior next year too.
But I have so many questions concerning my GPA. I got 3.75 UW and 4.41 W last year in US, but my counselor just directly convert my grade in HK. You know, grades are different. It turns out to become only 3.4 UW overall, it is just so low that I couldn’t accept it…
Do you know how admission officer will look into my grades?
