Chance me for Notre Dame (Mendoza)?

Hello everyone. Thanks for taking the time to look at my thread. I visited Notre Dame in June and I absolutely loved it.
Gender: Male
Race: Hispanic
GPA: 3.95
Rank: Top 6% in class
ACT: 32 (35, 30, 33, 31)
SAT: 2200 (740 CR, 680 M, 780 W)
PSAT: 214 in Texas. Doubtful that I get anything except Commended and National Hispanic Scholar.

EC's:
President of Medical Society - been in club since soph. year.
President of <my school="" name="" here=""> ESPN - been in club since freshman year.
Varsity Track - 3 years
Won state in summer track league in freshman year
MVP for Junior Year
Varsity Cross Country - 3 years
Freshman of the Year
300 service hours
3rd place in AMC in my school (behind an outgoing Duke student and my class's valedictorian)
Led Freshman Retreat, Junior Retreat, and Senior Retreat
Went on service trip in Nicaragua during June
Worked at a summer camp for gifted children in June. </my>

One of my recs basically told me he will give me a very strong rec, which I am grateful for.

I already wrote all my needed Notre Dame essays. I will be communicating with my highschool's college counseling office throughout the summer to improve them as needed.

What are my chances? I realize my ACT is what is holding me back the most.. I've been prepping for a few weeks and once I get back to my hometown I will be having two hour tutoring sessions every Sunday. Hopefully that will help but I don't want to assume it'll improve. It's very frustrating, I got a 32.25 and I feel like that little point is holding me back. Same with the PSAT, so close to National Merit.. Oh well.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

i’d say you’re practically in

(although there is always the “crap shoot” aspect with top schools).

Thanks for the fast response!!

A word of caution, though. If the ND Supplemental essays you wrote were taken from prompts found on the admission website, those were from last year. With the exception of the “Why ND?” topic, they change pretty significantly from year to year, so it is difficult to write them ahead of time. D first saw the prompts when she was able to link through the CA after August 1.

Are you sure? I took the questions from here: http://admissions.nd.edu/assets/72533/ndsupplement_201310_web.pdf</a>. It says Fall 2013 at the top and it also says 2013 in the link.

Yep. Those are from last year. The “Fall 2013” indicates matriculation, not application, date. Don’t stress about it though. Your app looks pretty good, although with ND it is a crapshoot. Applications were up this year and are expected to be next year as well. Also, their yield was slightly higher than expected this year, so they might be a little more conservative in their acceptance numbers next year. But that could all just be me overthinking things!

Wow, I’m dumb haha. Ok you’re right, it is for last year.

Not dumb at all. Far from it! My D was in your position last year. I know how anxious she was, but truth be told, she wrote her ND essays in one afternoon, so I wouldn’t sweat it! Your application looks very sound. Just keep working hard. You might also want to contact your regional admissions rep, introduce yourself, etc., etc., etc… If you are thinking of applying EA, he/she might be able to guide you one way or another. If nothing else, they might remember your name when reading time comes around. Good luck! (BTW my D will be starting at ND in the fall.)

Thanks so much! I contacted my regional advisor like you said, thank you for the advice. That’s so great, congratulations! I hope that I can join her next year.

You have a good chance. Congratulations on your achievements. Chance back please?

DrewBreesus, check the ND Admissions website. The supplement questions were released today. Good Luck!

You might want to check out Villanova Business or Fordham Gabelli for matches (maybe low ones at that)…
