My parents were upper middle class engineers until they decided at their mid-40's to devote the remainder of their lives to community service and agriculture.

GPA: 4.0 (4 or more years of core classes) UNWEIGHTED
I took a college science class and every honors course my school offers. My school does not offer AP's or IB's. I also take Adavanced Spanish - a third language studied through my second.

SAT I: Critical Reading (610) Math (710) Writing (700) WILL RETAKE
SAT II's: Math II (640) Literature (650) WILL RETAKE

Essay was reviewed by college admissions person and ranked 3/3 (exceptional)

EC's:
Played Cello for 8 years, teaching it, ranked third in my all-state orchestra and hoping for first this year (senior). Attended honors ensemble and played in numerous local orchestras. Will submit an artistic supplement.

In my sophomore year, I took 5 months off school and went on a 600 mile trip with 11 other HS student: we skied the length of VT (300 miles), built a boat and paddles on the Canadian border and canoed the Connecticut river back home (300 miles). This included learning about local ecology and history, and regular English assignments. The teacher for that will write me a rec. I will write my extended EC piece about this.

I lived for 4 years in a community alongside adults with special needs (Camphill). There I worked beside them in an organic bakery (paid work)

~160 hours of comm. service. I also managed my parents' farm for periods of time while they were absent.

Paid work: webmaster (fluent html, css), manual labor, cello teacher, cello performer.

Played some volleyballa and tennis. Obviously skied a lot.
