Original post far too long to read all of it. Did capture- intended minor. Read up on UW- there are no minors, only comprehensive majors. You can double major to include a complete Chemistry major (a top ten, excellent undergrad/honors courses dept, btw). Condense your list of basic accomplishments- it seems like ordinary EC’s that most top HS students have. Likewise in the middle of the pack for top students at many WI HS’s.

Lower quartile for GPA and ACT as it now stands. Reach even ED.

^^In-state you have a shot with that GPA and ACT at LSA especially as a recruited athlete.

Reach. 25th percentile test scores and your GPA seems low. Activities seem fine though. The subject test scores are not very impressive so I would be hesitant to send them as I don’t think they will help at all (WUSTL only considers SAT II if sent).
Also, remove the space in your bbcodes( [ *] ) and add [ list] preceding it and [ /list] after it.

[li] SAT: N/A[/li][/ul]

OP: pare down your ECs. List the top ten. Let the rest go.

Gpa is set in stone ( i know) but subject tests cannot hurt u, because they are optional they can only help (unless you perform extremely poorly like 500/800) and i definitely sure my act will be a 34/35 come september, i have practiced since june and have significantly improved. Could you chance me as if i had a 35 act? (My practice tests are 35 or 34)

@hagzzz

@MomOfThreeKids Im out of state
@T26E4 alright, i’ll do it when i get back to illinois ;)

For oos LSA, it will be a low reach for you. Your GPA is below admission average of 3.85 while your ACT is just slightly above average (mid 50 ACT 30-33). If you do get 34 in ACT retake, it will help. Also, spend some time to work on the essays. That may help too.
While UIUC has near double the admission rate, you should have no problem to get in as in state student although you may or may not get into your intended major directly.

probably low reach then

@hagzzz thanks!

@wayneandgarth i know that i will definitely get a 34/35 on my act for september so dont worry about the lower quartile. As for gpa, my gpa is messed up because of one bad semester, and since then i have had a rising trend. Could u chance me based on that new info? Thanks

Okay, well the only thing that seems to be an issue is your GPA and ACT. If what you’re planning with the 34/35 ACT and higher GPA, you have a solid chance. But like everyone said, Early Decision will be your best friend in this case just because there will be tons of kids with higher stats than you. You are really involved and you know how to make yourself look good given what you did, so work off of that.
And if you don’t mind me overstepping my boundaries, throw in your troubles from Sophomore Year and use that as a tool to demonstrate the growth you’ve had in high school. In total honesty, NU likes to see people who are individual and unique so don’t waste time trying to do things you won’t enjoy your senior year.
Good luck!

But how can you KNOW you will get a 34/34 on the ACT in Sept? You don’t until you get your scores back. So don’t make us chance you based on prediction. Other than that, I’d say you have a good chance ED. Write good essays, that is the key!

@bamboo17 the act is out of 36 not 34. well, chance me on the prediction AND the current scores please…

Yeah I know it’s out of 36, I meant to type 34/35 meant as 34 or 35. Either way, with your current scores, I think you still stand a decent chance ED.

shameless bump

Few thoughts for you:

Your extracurriculars are scattered and I fail to see any significant amount of depth to them. You mention things like your “pep squad” and “JV tennis” but these largely carry no weight when being considered my an admissions committee. There seems to be a lot of filler here, evidenced most by your “8th Grade: Presidents Award (why not?)” statement. In short, these top universities care about depth of character, commitment, and potential. Though you’ve had some level of academic success, I caution you about being overly-confident with respect to your extracurriculars.

Focus less on your ACT and more on your ability to relate with people. Top scores merely open doors for you, but it takes a hell of a lot more to get through that door.

Do your research on these programs. It’s not particularly endearing to find out that you were unaware of UW’s comprehensive major program and their use of certificates instead. Little details like this are important and reflect not only your commitment level to that particular university, but your ability to conduct research.

Best of luck to you!

How is your Weighted GPA over 5.0? I though an A in an AP course gives you a 5.0 and every thing below averages it down. How could you get a 5.31?

@centralFC thanks for the positivity :c
@spiral7 it depends on ur school, some of my courses gave me a 6 instead of 5
